Check your supermarket till receipts

We don't usually check our till receipts, but this morning the bill seemed very high so we checked it before we left Sainsbury's in Ilford. There were three mistakes, the worst was a packet of Chinese bean sprouts which had been reduced from 59p to 29p. The till receipt read 29 @ 59p total £17.11 ! We intend checking every time in future.

Also don't forget that, for example, Tesco give you back double the difference if they overcharge you, so it's always advisable to check!

Supermarkets often make mistakes in my experience.

about a year ago my wife and I were in toys r us and we spotted a 20 inch tv for £100 which we thought was a good deal so we took it to the till and purchased it using my credit card when we got the receipt I had a look and got a bit of a shock the lady on the till had keyed it in at £100,000 fortunatley she had spotted her mistake and corrected it in time I feel sure the card company would have refused the transaction

But it works the other way too. I got a mattress for £12.80 instead of £128.00. I didn't notice till I got home.

My local Sainsburys frequently overcharge, and they only refund the exact amount overcharged!
I have only had it happen once in Tesco and they did refund double the difference, so I got potting compost for 1p.
  • I was getting overcharged every single week in Sainsburys at the end of last year... I was never overcharged by more than about £4.50 but it was such a pain in the backside.

The queues at CS to get my money back were always long (whilst my frozen stuff was slowly defrosting in the trolley) and not once did I get an apology at the CS desk for the inconvenience.

I stopped shopping there in the end because of it. Funnily enough, when I was on holiday a couple of months ago... I nipped into a Sainsburys (for the first time since) to get a few bits and bobs.... and when I got back to the hotel - yep, I'd been overcharged. I reckon it's a policy (or at the very least, a conspiracy) ;)

To be fair though, my Mum shops in the same store... and she never gets overcharged - they just must not like me very much :rotfl:

Not in the Crawley one they don't & I regularly get overcharged in there.

Sometimes get over charged in Tesco.

    Less so in Sainsbury.

Has happened in Morrisons once or twice (but I don't use them much).

NEVER happened in Waitrose or M&S to me;)

    How about this one then...........

Paid for my shopping in Asda.

As I checked reciept, found a mistake.

Had to get newspaper, so instead of queueing at checkouts, then queueing at kiosk, then queueing a CS because of their mistake, I thought I will take paper to customer service & pay for it out of my refund.

So she refunds my money that I was overcharged (after a long queue) then tells me shes not susposed to let people pay for things there, hummed & haaed & said she would do it this one.................

!!!!!!, I shouldn't have had to queue at CS because they try & fiddle extra out of customers at the tills:mad:

I was going to complain via letter, but didn't bother.

PS I NEVER get the £2 voucher when I'm overcharged at Asda.
