I get it 1/3 of the time without saying anything, sometimes I ask and get it sometimes I can't be bothered, but you should always get it ask see what happens!
I just usually push my xmas savings card under thier nose and say ' you can put the £2.00 for overcharging me on that please'0 -
I had a problem with Asda recently.... got charged twice the price on 2 items... realised when got home... phoned and checked the stores policy as didnt want to travel all the way back if they wouldnt give the £2 giftcard. Anyway turns out my stores manager had decided they didnt do the £2 giftcard (which is actually a minimum they should give PER item overcharged!).
After a couple of phone calls to head office and a couple of emails to my local store.... £20 giftcard and a letter confirming the store actually do follow this policy as do all stores! Now carry this letter with me every time I go.
I had another overcharge last week.... got my refund....then silence... I asked for my £2 giftcard and the cs woman says "I was just about to say that" yeah right! I purposely left a few seconds gap to see if she would say anything!0 -
So how do folks check their receipts? Use a calculator as you put items into trolley so you know what the total should be? Remember the prices and watch the till display (while you're packing your bags)? Remember the prices and check the receipt after leaving the checkout? Wait till you unpack your bags at home?
I always tot mine up on the back of the shopping list as I go along and make a note of any bogofs or offers - then keep an eye on the display as things are being scanned so I can query them with the till operator. I've lost count of the amount of errors I have picked up.
Mind you I bet I get some funny looks as I am pushing the trolley along - but it takes so much effort figuring out the numbers I couldnt care less...... My own version of brain training!:rotfl:SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)0 -

Tesco & Asda don't show the offers as they go through, so you can't check on the till as they go through, you can at Sainsbury:D
I buy a lot of fruit, veg & salad so a calculator is no good as these get weighed at the till.0 -
I have to admit that I used to by the reduced items and then check straight away if i'd been over charged. Only started doing this after I spotted it once and got the £2 from asda.
Although I haven't been overcharged for a while the last few times I haven't got a single thing other than the difference and a poliet sorry from the CS.
Tesco, Morrisons are the worst in my opinion. At least I nearly always get the £2 from asda.0 -
I had to fight one time to get £10 in gift cards based on Asda policy and went to the store to query it with no success, in the end I emailed Arlene Murphy from Asda and eventually received a gift card in the post, here's the email:

I forgot to put "me" in there.
Honestly, I haven't had one of those £2 cards for nearly a year, despite getting overcharged on one or more items nearly every week.
went in today to get something else and went to cs - explained i'd been overcharged and they kindly gave me the overcharge and then a £2 gift card.
i took my iphone with me with their website on in case of argument but it wasn't needed. shops hate my iphone! :rotfl:

True, unfortunately, but you can always quickly check the bottom of the receipt before you move away from the till, tends to get them seeing things from your point of view, I tend to find (got to keep the till rate up!).
But then maybe it's because I am 5 foot 9, built like a russian shot putter, with a voice to match.....:rotfl:SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)0 -

How about this one then...........
Paid for my shopping in Asda.
As I checked reciept, found a mistake.
Had to get newspaper, so instead of queueing at checkouts, then queueing at kiosk, then queueing a CS because of their mistake, I thought I will take paper to customer service & pay for it out of my refund.
So she refunds my money that I was overcharged (after a long queue) then tells me shes not susposed to let people pay for things there, hummed & haaed & said she would do it this one.................
!!!!!!, I shouldn't have had to queue at CS because they try & fiddle extra out of customers at the tills:mad:
I was going to complain via letter, but didn't bother.
PS I NEVER get the £2 voucher when I'm overcharged at Asda.
CS at both my local Asdas are happy for you to pay for papers, mags, sandwiches at their desk0 -
