hi i sold some car lights on ebay 2 weeks ago and i got an email of them saying that they were with holding payment till i got 100% feed back or for 21 days if there was no dispute i told the buyer and still posted them on good faith that i got good feed back luckily he gave 100% feed back but they still did not release my money i had to phone them and i had to wait 48 hours and they released my money i under stand why they do it its to protect buyers from getting ripped of which i have fell victim to for over £45 pound luckily i got my money .0

Just had this myself, thought what the hell is this...been selling on ebay for about 4 years.
Now they expect me to not only send to an unconfirmed address where I have no protection, but are also stopping me claming any money until the buyer is satisfied.
Know what this is? Stopping people taking money out of paypal, and then oweing paypal a balance if a dispute is started. Paypal never ever lose money, but this just makes it 110% wrapped up for them.
Personally i think it totally stinks, and I'm off to use that old ebid account I started ages ago! VERY uncomfortable sending an item to this unconfirmed buyer, what if he/she leaves a neg just because they can? I simply don't get my money? And o top it off I have to leave positive feedback for them or nothing at all!!
Ebay aint got long left if they continue like this. It's not really any different to sending on receipt of an unbanked cheque.0 -
Ebay at the moment is increasingly becoming harder and trickier to sell on - the balance imho is being tipped a bit too far in favour of the buyer.
The problem there is that people will be discouraged from selling, especially non-commercial sellers like many on here that sell to make a bit of money - which would mean less choice and poorer prices for the buyers therefore no one wins ultimately!Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -

As long as a claim is not made against you (item not as described, not received, etc), your money will be released after 21 days..0 -
I have just had this happen to me too. Last week i sell 2 phones (one of them an iPhone) had no problems at all they both paid by paypal and were very happy both left pos feedback. Then on Tuesday i sell 2 jackets they sell for £20.00 and apparently this is an item that is prone to fraud and they are holding the money in my paypal account till i get poss feedback.
Hhhmmm i would have said the phone were more prone to fraud but hey what do i know?? I have been a member of eBay since 2001 and have 80 odd feedback at 100% I think it's time to find a new way to sell the odd item!!!

If your bank did anything similar to this Cowboy company (Paypal), then no doubt they would be breaking The Banking Code, but Paypal are not properly regulated and can do whatever they like with your money and thats dangerous.
They are holding onto my money subject to a unconfirmed Paypal address in Portugal leaving positive feedback over a £65.00 mobile phone I sold, despite the fact I have 100% feedback on 45 sales and two years on the site.
Called Ebay on 0208 080 2105, waste of time; they know this will annoy and deter use from less frequent users like myself and this is why they have implemented it, they only want Power sellers and shops selling on the site.
Looking at alternatives myself as no doubt thousands of others are as well.0 -
Vtecpower, I am surprised that you have been using ebay for two years and yet still do not appreciate the danger of phones going overseas.
The reason they have held this payment is that it is very high risk and not only that but should it fail to arrive you don't even have any insurance against loss from the RM which makes some sellers try and wriggle out of refunding the buyer. Where there is any real risk from the buyers point of view paypal are more likely to hold the funds.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ebay could ease the risk by not *forcing* sellers to take paypal, possibly the most high risk payment method for a transaction of this nature."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Please explain then how this makes any difference to the fact that there is no RM inssurance for phones over £36 sent overseas?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
