Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but has anyone tried Lidl's own Weetabix?
I think they are called Bixies.

I normally buy Sainsbury's own brand which I find as good as ' real ' Weetabix and the Lidl ones are even cheaper, but I didn't want to risk buying them in case they were awful.

The vast majority of things I have bought in Lidl's have been excellent.

Lidl do two versions, real cheap ones and slightly dearer one.

The slightly dearer ones you'd just wouldn't notice any difference.

I know the dearer range of the Supermarket's own labels are actually Weetabix themselves. The cheaper range are usually made by some other firm.

Saying that, I (and the kids) enjoy the cheaper ones too.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Lidl, bought some electrical items off them and every one has had to go back, not because they don't work, but because they don't do the job well. Never had a problem taking them back though.
    The salami is good there.

Aldi, theres a large pack of ready salted crisps, I got one once and it was so saltly I couldn't even eat it :( Must have been a daily dose in one crisp.

    Are Lidl german too?

    Most definitely.

Lidl are a spin-off from Aldi, as a result of a breakaway group in the seventies.

Lidl aren't a spin-off from Aldi. Lidl was set up as competition to Aldi.

Aldi was split into two as Aldi North and Aldi South in 1960.

Yes - thats what I said.

If you care to research a little more, you will find out that part of the ALDI management board were responsible for the creation of the LIDL we know today.

This Shipstern's Bitter was called Shipstones before, before the revamp, and as far as I'm concerned, the old Shipstone's was far better.

You're talking the draught, though, and I will try this and report.

    Here's the report:

    Don't bother.
  • PERSONAL BEST DO & DON'T BUYS

    ALDI
Peanut butter, best I have ever had of any brand, only one I have ever found that's made in USA.
Chilled Lasagna 1Kg, Tasty made with pork instead of the usual beef.
Electrical/electronic goods are usually good quality, bought an excellent digi camera there once.
Tray bake flapjack, it my look similar to Lidl's but it ain't the same, Lidl's is much much better.

    LIDL
Wafer thin sliced meats with no added water, make sure you pick the no added water on as the do both.
Tray bake flapjack, yummy, if you like flapjack.
Plug-in air freshener, refills are ¼ the price (99p) of the brand leaders (£3.98) and better.
Chilled Lasagna, 1Kg Also good but this one is beef.

    NETTO
Irish Cream Liqueur Made in Ireland and very hard to tell it apart from Baileys and although a while since I bought some, it was only £3.95 Ltr.

Aldi have fairly recently started doing individually wrapped Holly Lane flapjacks which are really good.
