I don't know if this has been covered before but even though Lidl, Aldi etc are good what about the horrible, horrible people who are in there wandering around drunk and/or inbred and stupid? This is my experience of going in there. Yes the chocolate is amazing and the beer is pretty good but its so horrible having to queue with some lunatic who can hardly stand up and is buying a huge bottle of der weiss lightning to drink themselves stupid on.

I'm sorry but that's what my local Lidl is like. It really does seem to attract the dregs of society.

p.s the potato salad in Lidl is UNBELIEVABLY good. 1kg for about £1 and really creamy and gorgeous.

Have'nt been in any of them for a while. Might have a wander round them today it all sounds delish
Do they take credit cards now or is it still all cash?

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

I don't regularly shop at Lidl but have been in a few times. Last time I went there I bought some jars of curry sauces - think they were about 70p a jar and they're fab!
Started making curries using the Homepride sauces which cost nearer the £2 mark and the 70p Lidl ones are just as good!
Like others, have also found the fruit and veg amazingly good value.

I'm told that *some* Aldi's accept credit cards. Sadly, ours doesn't though.

All the Lidl stores i've been in seem to take credit cards.

    I like in Lidl:

    Tinned Tuna
    Chicken in White Sauce
    Scotch Broth
    Pesto
    Sliced Wholemeal Farmhouse
    Chicken Pasta Salad
Tuna Sandwich filler - same as Tesco's
Cooked Chicken breast slices, its about 99p
Similar as above but with Herbes de Provence, about £1.20
    Pastrami
Fresh Sausages - 6 Premium & Steak Lorne
Fruit & Veg - Generally good, but keep an eye on freshness
    Cornflakes
Jams - High Fruit content, look for the slightly more expensive jars
    Gold Ground Coffee
Aloe Vera Balsam Washing up liquid (White) Good, and softens your hands
Plantation Dark Chocolate - Especially Ecuador 70%
    Yogurts
Mozzarella, Feta & Emmental (like Presidente but 400g for price of 200g)
    Toiletries are generally good.

    Things I dont like:

    Tea
    Brown Sauce
Cottage Cheese, they changed it recently & the old stuff was much nicer!
Crisps - I find the 'Knights' ones quite greasy

I shop at lidl's every week with no complaints with most of the products.

Recently my bank 'woolwich' has been taken over by Barklays bank and since issueing new cards check books etc i have been unable to use the debit card in lidl's, the staff do not understand why but it is with all barklays cards not just mine.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

The Balconi cakes for 99p (Aldi).
There are three varieties: chocolate, lemon and tiramisu.
    And all three are great.
