Jaffa cakes
choc chip cookies (cookie shop ones)
chocolate digestives
ginger nuts

thick fruit yoghurts
plain yoghurt
99p cheeses
all bread
all fruit and veg (just choose carefully!)
especially tangerines (last much longer than co-op ones)
grapes (bargain!)
energy saving lightbulbs (49p!)
sponges
washing up liquid (the one in the fairy shaped see thru bottle)
Gilroys crisps (i am sure they must be walkers, even the C&O is in a blue bag the same!)
wig wags (wotsits copy)
all the juice cartons (especially orange and apple - much nicer than tesco value, and a nice lid topped carton!)
orange squash (34p for 2 litres and it is 10% fruit, more than some cordials!)
mince beef
sandwich steaks
the finely sliced sandwich meats (beef , ham , or chicken)
salami
corned beef
smoked cheese round slices
quiche (cheese and onion)
Netto baddies
flapjacks (taste of cheap margarine yuck!)

Slightly off topic, but I know for a fact that Kate Bliss, formerly Allcock, shops in Lidl in Hereford.
She appears regularly as one of the experts on BBC's Bargain Hunt and Flog It!
OK, Kate's hardly an A-lister, but I like her, and she clearly knows a bargain when she sees one!We are QPR, say we are QPR!0 -

Bad bad bad it's not Christmas yet you shouldn't have eaten Santa:eek:
I bought lots of the Christmas goodies, gingerbread etc I am going to give some of them to my ex MIL who introduced me to it years ago.
I have my eye on the frozen desserts in Aldi for Xmas day tea anyone tried any of them?0 -

Aldi's is absolutely brilliant!!!!!!
Used to look down my nose at them, but have been forced to eat my words, pride and as many products as I can get my hands on!!!!
GOOD BUYS:
Premium bread is scrumptious (and lasts)
All homebake breads
Fruit and veg (particularly sprouts mmmmmmm)
Unsweetened soya milk (exactly the same as what you would find in 'premium' supermarkets at half the price)
Gold label ice cream
Soups
Washing up liquid
Dry cat food
BEST AVOID:
5 litre keg of lager (found it a bit 'watery')
Also love the way you get your food literally chucked at you at the till - none of this 'would you like any help with your packing' false BS0 -
My current favourites at Aldi:
* Staroslav Czech lager
* Proper salami
* Packs of continental cheese slices (just made a great Fondue with the Emmental)
* All the bake yourself bread
* Cereal bars
* they have a v good 2005 SA Pinotage for £3.49. Better than any sub £4 wine has a right to be.0 -
My favourites at Aldi are:-
Chocolate brownie cookies - as good as any luxury brand (M & S would probably charge three times as much and get away with it as they are that good).
Roma, genoa and scilian ham
Fresh tomato and red pepper soup - although a lot of Aldis seem to have stopped doing this.
Dinner rolls you bake yourself
Seeded ovals (bread rolls) - M & S do these at double the price.0 -
there's a new Lidl ( i think) opened in manchester city centre
has anyone been yet? any bargains? thinking of going after work tomorrow.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
