Lidls - don' buy their avacdos, everytime we have they have been dried up!!!
Their black forest ham is lovely though!:money:0 -
Went to Lidl for the first time!!! Noticed something that really pleased me!
Most of their packaging is tins, glass and cardboard, (Pasta in cardboard boxes instead of cellophane / plastic). Bought some cherry tomatoes and they are in a PET1 container, which again can be recycled.
Tesco's and Sainsbury's fruit and veg come in non recyclable containers, waitroses usually come in PET1 packaging.
Plus if Lidl and Aldi make you pay for your bags, you will think twice before using them for the rubbish!
Save the environment while saving money! Hurray!!!0 -
Annando:
Good points about about the recycling!
I offered a tip earlier on in this thread - why not buy Bags for Life from your local Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys/Waitrose and use them at Lidl or Aldi. Then take them back to the store where you got them for recycling and a free replacement when they are worn out!
Cheers

my aldi has lots of the microwave sponge puddings, so maybe yours are just out of stock.
Tried their vital and fit jam and the strawberry is gorgeous (a bit runny), but that was just a promo and has now finished. Their boxed Chardonnay wine has also finished, so will just have to try the red !!You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Hi Smashing
Which store are you meaning - Aldi, Lidl or Netto?0 -
Myusernamestaken's German other half posting here.
Aldi sell their own bags for life, linen, solid bottom, large and extremely sturdy, 99p. They easily carry 15kg of goods without the handles coming off and last forever. Strong buy.
In German Aldi stores, hardly anybody buys a plastic bag since you'd get ostracising looks for being an environmental pig. People bring their own (real) bags or use these very practical foldable plastic boxes.
I prefer Aldi over Lidl for quality and other reasons, but Lidl UK sell more original German stuff.
These German products are recommended:
ALDI
Bockwurst (German sausages in a glass jar)
St Ruperti (Bavarian soft cheese, different flavours)
Bratwurst (frying sausage, pack of 6)
Wernesgrüner Pilsener (expensive premium brand in Germany)
Steinhauser Lager (not bad at all)
LIDL
Salami (whole piece)
Salami (sliced)
Kabanossi (Hungarian style, spicy garlicky sausage)
Kartoffelsalat (potato salad)
Bockwurst (glass jar)In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Has anyone seen the spec for the new aldi digi camera coming out tomorrow? http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/index.html
Any idea? Is this any good please? Where would I get a reasonable memory card?Sunshine Girl0 -
My nephew got one of those for his birthday. If I am not mistaken it is made by Jenoptick (Not sure though) and the lenses and quality are supposed to be very good.
THe pics its take are really very good and if it has the same specs as the ones sold on the Continent it is rechargeable as a mobile is, no nedd to carry batteries around.
The memory card is a very slim one.
I couldn't understand how the zoom worked, I only managed to make it work by taking a pic and zooming in afterwards, but maybe that is me not reading a manual first...
All in all I thought it was a great camera, light way, compact, comes with a nice slim carry case! And the pictures are really Great!
Plus they are cheaper here than on the Continent, they were retailing at €90 in Brussels!!! (That's about £60!) and it is exactly the same camera.0 -
Just a quick question everyone, my local Lidl has not had teabags for weeks now, are you finding the same?
Come on Lidl this is Britain - our national drink.0
