I'm thinking of braving aldi or lidl today, but i only really need meat, bread and cheese. are aldi or lidl really ok for meat? I've heard dodgy dtories in the past!
or am i better going to buy sainsbury basic (after reading that thread!):rudolf:0 -
I've always found them great. I bought our turkey crown for Xmas from Aldi, it was excellent.Snootchie Bootchies!0

after reading about the part baked baguettes, i thought i'll try those. i did and loved them. today in aldi they had a bag of dinner rolls, 8 assorted rolls (asstd toppings) for 79p. again part baked. bought a pack, there were only 2 different toppings, but NINE rolls, so free roll! and they are just delish!trying hard to count my blessings while surrounded by idiots :O)0

Yesterday we tried the Aldi Italain Parma Ham, its about half the price of the other supermarkets (around 1.40 instead of 2.90), it comes with 6 slices, instead of 6 and is more "dry" with less fat and salt, much better than the one they sell at Tesco's or Sainsburys!0

Lidl ....I've been getting the bellarom coffee pods for my Senseo coffee maker. At the moment they are 99p for 18 pods and taste as good as Kenco or Senseo to me :TCambridge Weight Plan Consultant0

Just started Aldi'ing and would say always check out their food specials - a while back they had dried pasta loads of different types, all looked posh and tasted bloody marvellous for 59p a bag. Unfortunately they only do this promo 1or 2 times a year. Their micro-wave sponge puds were also fab but alas none spotted for 3 weeks!0

Hi all.
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, ( I dont have the two day's handy to read through this thread ) :rotfl:
Lidl sell a four pack of W5 brand WC fresh, 2 blue and 2 green flush squares to put in the cistern. I put a new one in last week and just realised that I put the first one in the 23rd Dec. Usually other brands last about two weeks in our house. This is a fantastic buy for about 79p for four.0 -
Do buy
Mushroom cup-a-soup
Tinned veg
Strawberry crisp cereal
Waffles
Cookies
Fruit shorties
Crisps
Mayonnaise (green squeezy bottle w/added herbs)
Squirty cream
Frozen paella
Frozen roast chicken dinner
Mars ice cream
Neopolitan ice cream sandwich wafers
Frozen veg
Wine gums/fruit pastilles
Imitation twix/mars bars
13p flavoured noodles
Don't buy
Malt crunchies (like cardboard - supermarket own brands are far nicer and much the same price)
Frosted flakes (always taste stale)
Flavoured sliced chicken breast
Yeast extract (some things you can't compromise on. Marmite is one of them)
The 28p white bread (once again supermarket own brand are much nicer - and softer! - for the same price)
Giant gateau (usually £3.99 - bought it on offer for £2.99 once, never again. Very synthetic)
Fruit & Veg depend very much on the store, although they often have offers so it's worth stocking up even if it's not the greatest of quality. Their iceberg lettuces are always a bit pathetic looking, mind.0
