  • I have discovered Aldi.

Like other people on the message board the fruit and veg are okay if you use them straight away, but dont last too long in the fridge. The grapes and Bananas are half the supermarket prices and always get eaten quickly in our house anyway.

    Other good buys are:
ready made family sized lasagna from the fridge -really tasty
breadsticks, biscuits, nuts are pretty good
Last week I got childrens traditional style, fleecy pyjamas for the winter at £2-99 a pair.
  • Belgian chocolates (about £2.99) excellent value ... every bit as good as Th****ons!
Nothing wrong with the wine (hic!) but don't like German wine anyway!
    Parmesan cheese!
    Emmental/Maasdam cheese
    Turkey breast joint thing
Magnum (lolly) rip offs .... lovely!

How do I get a picture on here?
    ...keep on rockin'!

Wow so much information, what is needed is a survey of products, so everyone votes for their top 5 products at each store (tick the box of your fav. five products (Aldi & Lidl), and then we can see which product gets the most votes. Is this possible on this site?

knowing martin - this is prob already being worked on ;)

I buy all my cleaning products from there - their washing up liquid is fab - lots of bubbles and smells lovely, non bio washing powder - huge box just as good as leading brands and I'm fussy, great also for floor cleaner, dish cloths, scourers etc - all MUCH cheaper and good quality.
Their belgian chocolate is also the best!
  • The high juice blackcurrent at Lidl's is as good as Ribena at a nicer cost. The soap powder/liquid and generall clening supplies are also good. And their packs of doggy soft snacks are good.

    Aldi

Been a Lidl fan for a while now, tried Aldi on Saturday and was impressed with :-

Pork loin steaks 3 for £1.99 really good quality.

Penne past ready chilled meal, surprisingly nice.

Large jar stuffed olives £1.29 - really good.

    Irish sausages 89p

Orange sweet gammon ham - really nice

    Fruit jelly sweets

    cashews 150g for 99p!!!!!

    Lots of other things too.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

    Cheers

Marinated Turkey fillets (frozen) 500 grms
    Coleslaw - really creamy

Why has no-one mentioned the canned chopped tomatoes from Netto? The 17p ones are in tomato juice and are fantastic. Electrical goods are from China (PowerG) and come with 3 yr warranty.
Got £20.00 DVD player from Lidl last Saturday, made by Targa, again with 3 yr warranty.
RESULT!...being a Tesco points tart is dying a death in this house, especially as Tesco petrol is decidely rubbish. Rumuor has it its to do with 5% bio fuel being added..hey ho
