Re Lidl: I agree with the fruit and veg comments - close inspection required and use quickly. (Not good if you shop for fruit & veg weekly only.) I got two lovely pineapples at Lidl yesterday at half price and twice the size of the ones at Tesco for about the same price. I regularly buy the following there:
the German free range eggs (I don't buy any other eggs at all now)
palma ham
roast ham
fruit juices (love the mixed fruit one with added vits)
tinned toms for cooking
tomato puree
kitten soft toilet paper
washing powder
fabric conditioner
tissues
orange coloured cleaning spray (but buyer beware - it's strong, strong enough to lift the veneer off an IKEA desk)
black bin liners
chicken breasts
pork steaks
Again with the meat, don't expect a long life cycle in your fridge and check the date when you buy!0 -
I used to be a secret Lidl shopper - now i go loud and proud!! :j
There are a few items I have tried and definately won't go back for - including:
tomato pasta sauce in jar - too orange and doesn't taste of tomatoes!
in fact any jar sauce - i wait until on offer in tesco and stock up on proper chicken tonight etc
I bought the light version mayo last week - its now in the bin - decency prevents me from describing how foul it truly was! Full fat version always been ok so far though
Milk - goes off before date shown
Definately buy: Proviact natural yoghurts, White Choc (in a purple packet - eat before kids home from school!), Dried pasta and Rice, Fruit Juice, Cleaning Products, Gammon joints, flour etc for baking and wine - there is one particular rose can't remember exact name - but it is lovely and less than £3 bottle
Have been caught out before though having bought named brand crisps etc only to then go to Tesco and find them on offer and therefore cheaper!0 -
Aldi
Definitely buy: seeded rye bread, Danish pastries, Milfina ice cream and Grandessa ice cream, especially the citrus one, (Can't remember its name and there was none left when I went to replace my last one).0 -

BUY - Parmesan cheese
This is much cheaper than anywhere else and as it keeps for ages you can buy in bulk.
But not cheaper than FREE via Tesco R&R - a recent repeated Misprice as msers all know.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

and by the way the other week we bought an electric drill from Argos for £70.00 the drill bits were missing so I took it back and they had reduced it by £10 over night, but did`nt have another to give me, so I got my money back. Went to the local Aldi and got a perfectly adequate drill for £25 it did the job.
My 13 year old would rather starve than eat anything bought in Netto so I have to pretend its from somewhere else, apparently theres a song that goes around the schools something about slappers buying at Netto!!!!0 -
I recently tried the Lidl Cheese Hearts and they are delicious but I have to agree with previous posters about the fruit, grapes I bought went off by the next day.0

About 18 months ago I went to my local Lidl and they were having a clearance sale in the car park, selling off all the surplus non food items I got a trolley full of goods took them to the lad with the money pouch he said how much do you think its worth? I said I don`t know he said give me £20 I had got well over a hundred quid worth of things and was well pleased!!! Not done it since though to my knowledge.0

We don't buy carrier bags at Lidl because we bought some of their collapsible plastic boxes which were on a special one week-about £1.79 each I believe-they soon pay for themselves and are good for the environment too !
Things to buy
cider-£1.49 for 2 litres
wine-take your pick at these prices!
German beer -you can see where this is going !!
ice cream
chocolate
cheese
Stollen cake-Stollen mountain appears out of the mist in late autumn-seasonal but sooo good !
jelly babies-the best !!!
frozen fish and chips
pasta
big lumps of salami !
this is becoming self indulgent now so...
Not to buy
can't think of anything really-get yourself down there and experiment. There is little to lose and there is definitely no stigma attatched to saving youself a few quid (after you have weaned yourself off any or all of the items mentioned above !!!)-go on -take a chance !!!0 -
