I LOVE LIDL'S Nobody has mentioned their Chocolate or syrup sponges Better than the M & S one on the TV advert and 89p for enough for two. Our fruit and veg is excellent. The chocolate ice cream is best on the planet.and the young manager is very attractive in that grumpy git sort of way some lads have!!

Lidl - Their Parmesan is so much cheaper and better than Morrison's! Also no-one so far (Well as far as reading 20 pages has told me) has mentioned Lidl's party-sized gateaux's. The black forrest (or is it cherry) serves 10-15 and costs only £1.99!

Absolute bargain for the size and is only beaten in taste by IKEA's Dime Bar cakes...
    Waddle you do eh?
  • i know it's not quite the weather for iced coffee but lidl do a really nice one, and nice iced coffee is so hard to find. :T :T

Tastes wonderful and a good price. My thing with the cheaper supermarkets is I will try and if I like will buy again, if not I've lost nothing.

I would say their veg is okay and pretty good as long as you are careful choosing it. Where else can you get avocados for 25p sometimes!

  • The best buys at Lidls must be some of the wines: My French wife and I particularly like the Navarra at less than £3.00 a bottle, the Cotes de Rhone also less than £3.00, the Chablis is good too, I could go on and on !!

Dont buy Lidl tuna its disgusting & my cats wouldnt even touch it!!
  • I've read through a few of these entries and agree with the person who said how much more kindly the average customer is, letting people nip ahead in the queue if only buying a couple of things. There seems to be generally a more friendly atmosphere in my local Lidls.

I haven't read any mention of how eco-friendly the lack of plastic bags are, the way that paying a deposit means the car park is not littered with trolleys, and that how not having a choice of 20 different olive oils means I can get my weekly shopping done in literally a third of the time it takes me in Asda or Tesco. I once counted 16 types of peanut butter in Sainsburys. I use Sainsburys orange bags every week at Lidls cutting down on the amount of plastic bags I accumulate at home.

I agree with most people who say you need to pick the fruit and veg carefully, I never buy my milk there (goes off quickly) and I buy my meat from a local butcher, but everything else I think is fine. I know I save pounds shopping at Lidls - but with all these recommendations, I think I'll track down an Aldi soon.

    ...Lidl isn't a shop... it's a lifestyle :D

I use all three though generally it tends to be Aldi or Lidl... generally I think Aldi have better quality items and cost slightly more..

I can't remember the exact name by the tear and share vanilla and custard bun is lovely from Aldi.

The Ice Cream, especially Vanilla, fruit and mascapone and the Walnut one at Lidl are hard to beat.

The Pizza's... mozzarella and the salami ones at LIDL are really good...

In the last week or two I have been dissapointed with the LIDL Egg Mayonnaise as they have definately changed the ingredients... it has a more salad cream type flavour... not to my liking at all... also seems more runny... the old Egg Mayo was far more chunky and had really strong eggy taste.... it was fan-bloody-tastic! :)

Choclates, crisps, drinks etc... all very good in all stores
