The March 2011 edition of "Good Housekeeping" recommends Lidl's Milton Gate Premium Unsmoked Dry Cure Rindless Back Bacon as being second-best of the ones they tested.0

I was in Lidl the other day..the trattore (I think that's the brand) lasagnes used to just come in 1Kg sizes but now they come as individuals too which is great for me because a 1Kg is just too much for one.0

Does anyone know how much the Smoked Mackerel is at Lidl? I'm buying at Morrisons atm and Lidl is a little out of my way but if it's good value there might pop in.
Thanks0 -
Good food from Lidl in my opinion:
Avocados 49p
125g chocolate 99p
fairtrade bananas (x 6) 99p
spinach 99p
celery 69p
smoked mackerel £?
Large pineapple 99p
and lots more...!0 -
Spinach at 99p! Good grief, I am an MSE. Wait till it's on offer at 49p:j0

Having been to a couple of social occasions lately where I've asked about the shortbread and crisps on offer as both were delish, I was told they were lidl. These were choc chip shortbread biscuits and salt and balsamic vinegar crisps.
I've been buying more and more everytime I go , the children love the chocolate cereals and they are very fussy.
Marmalade is also good , I won't be buying the mini macaroons again though.....too moreish for my own good!
The choc ice cream cones are very good as are their spicy potatoe wedges.
I had a lovely pain au chocolate today for 39p
The staff in there are pleasant as well and very fast on the tills0 -
I get loads of stuff from Lidl each month, generally it's all such good quality and far cheaper than the likes of Asda/Tesco etc.
Highly recommended:
Formil washing powder
Jars of curry sauce
Frozen indian snacks (veg samosas & onion bhajis)
Heavenly Buttery spread (good alternative to Clover)
Milton Gate dry cure bacon rashers
Smoked salmon
Croissants
Pain au Chocolat
Hot cross buns
Free range eggs
All of the cheese and yogurts I've had from there have been lovely, and they do some really nice wine as well (had some lovely Merlot recently)
I really like Lidl, always get a massive trolley load of stuff and never seem to spend more than £60 - £70. :T0 -
From Aldi I can recommend the Bobble Mania lollies (they're like the Nobbly Bobbly lollies). Yummy, I had actually bought them for the kids, LOL.
£1.49 for a box of 6.0 -
Aldi Bubbles chocolate. 69p for a 100g bar, nearly half the price of Aero which is £1.20 per bar most places. It feels like Aero and tastes like Galaxy, it's lush
Cheese things Cheddar Biscuits are pretty good too, if you are a cheddar addict like me. Taste about the same, just a little bit harder/crunchier.So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -
