i popped into my local Aldi the other day for a couple of bits and i was shocked to see jus how much some things have changed in price....1kg of pasta £1.09!!!!!!! it used to b 55p when i 1st started buying it 2 years ago!!! tinned tomatoes have gone up too..from 13p to 21p even things like chicken breasts have increased in price!!!! lets hope the credit crunch we r suffering atm has an impact on prices (ie drives them back down again!!)

Pasta and rice prices have gone up everywhere. Due to poor crops / ruined crops for both and for rice with many of the growing countries making sure they feed their own people before selling it on to everyone else.

Then there's the extra cost of transportation - this being a very high proportion of the price - noticed more on products sold with very low profit margin. There's only so long you can sell something at a loss.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Well I have just come back from Lidl.

24 roll pack of Charmin toiilet roll is down from £9.49 to £6.49 (wish I hadnt stocked up in Sainsbury the other day:rolleyes: ).

Their cloudy lemonade is still 37p for 2 litres.

I wanted some Ribena but they didnt have any but I did get some blackcurrant high juice squash instead for £1.08

Tins of Salco Low Fat Rice Pudding is 29p and is quite tasty.
  • I like Aldi and Lidl but you have to watch some prices seem to have increased quite a lot and you can get them cheaper at the regular supermarkets. I think the tuna steaks in oil used to be about the same in both stores but now it's Lidl 74p and Aldi 65p.

Is it just me who's discovered that Lidl pot noodles are about 10 times tastier than their Golden Wonder cousins.

Cheaper, too, at 49p a pop.

The 'spicy curry' flavour is sublime. ;)

Hi, just to say i couldn't agree with you more, Morrisons has some excellent offers and loads of choice. I normally shop at Asda and then get some things from Aldi or Lidl. I went to Morrisons today for the deals on Nintendo games and Wii and ended up doing my weekly shop there. Most impressed.:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j

    :D Blackcurrant High-Juice (It's Ribena!)
:D Frozen Pizzas (the Trattoria ones..got 5 for a fiver and sooo tasty)
:D Granarom instant coffee (£1.39 for 200g, I was dubious but it's really smooth!)

That's all we have tried so far, the gammon steaks look lovely too, and I was impressed with the pork content in the sausages, something like 80% :T

All in all we have been really impressed with it, got the same amount of food we'd spend £80 on at Asda for £50 including more meat than we would normally treat ourselves to. Going to try Aldi next month.

Aldi stock an own brand version of Mars Bar.Its called Titan and in all my family's opinion tastes better than Mars bar. Its something like 69p for 8 but not sure as OH does the shopping. There is also a "fake Twix" which is very nice but cannot remember the name.
