Was wondering if anyone had some ideas on this....

A few things happened to me this year... which I have had to cope with alone and very quickly. I went to my doctors yesterday because I have a throat infection and she asked how things were going.

A got a little teary eyed because I have been keeping it all in... she suggested I see one of the psychologists/counsellors at the surgery and she has referred me to them.

I am really quite happy and jolly most of the time (I am only 22 so most people always think there is something wrong if I am not smiling!) and I am a bit worried I am going to go to this place and just waste their time.

Alot has happened in the past... and I have dealt with it in many different ways. (Spending money I dont have is one... hence why I am on here! lol) But my life has not been as bad as some peoples....

There is alot to it but don;t want to bore you with my problems....

But do you think it is worth going and talking to this woman to see if I have underlying issues?????

I hope this makes sense, I get the feeling I am waffling on a bit.

It was't until a 2nd doctor told me to go and see a psychologist that I accepted that maybe I needed help. I had always been strong and thought no way I needed help or could be depressed. But when I finally accepted that I was suffering from depression it was a huge relief and the first stage towards getting better. Don't get me worng everything wasn't roses afterwards and 2 years on I still have issues, but that first step is important, please keep the appointment and don't feel you are wasting anyones time.
  • Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while but I know some regulars will remember me :D

Spent a lot of the year caring for Mum with her herniated disc and she is still having problems :(

We are both very run down with bad colds at the moment and it is making me feel a bit anxious again. 2 years ago I had very bad flu and ended up with a bout of depression that lasted about 3 months. Last year same story but the depression didn't last quite as long plus I didn't have time for it when Mum became immobile.

This year - oh please not again! Just the time of year, decorations is making me feel anxious, now the cold and I can feel my imagination making little leaps of its own. I don't want to go down that path again.

So I thought I'd pop in here, open my heart a little but also and as importantly give a huge cyber hug to all those who a feeling depressed and anxious as the moment as I appreciate how it feels.

Hi Bizzy. I remember you:) It's interesting you say that, because I've noticed that when I have a bad cold it really aggravates my depression, quite noticeably - but more so in the few days before it actually breaks out... bit weird?

And hi to everyone else too :hello: Hope you're all doing ok. Where's that Tiffy disappeared to?:D I just have to get through today then I'm off work till after christmas! Woo hoo! :D :j :santa2::xmastree:

    Much love to you all,

Thank you Sazzy and a big festive hug:santa2: back to you

Supposedly it is not unusual for that feeling before the cold 'erupts' as it simmers in the body for a few days. A guy I work with, his mother is a doctor who specialises in the lungs and she has worked miracles with my asthma and is a fount of knowledge and good tips.

TLC really is the best medicine :)

Hi Steph, so pleased you made it your CBT - now treat yourself to some tlc this afternoon!

And a parcel - always exciting. I got £50 from writing 50 reviews on Qype - as seen in an MSE newsletter - and have treated myself with that so am looking forward to the parcel arriving (3 books, a pair of shows & an Xmas present!)

I can relate to you. I was always the person smiling and being happy. I remember when I had my first job that the people I worked with remarked on the fact. Im the last person you would expect to get depression because I joke a lot and always see the funny side of things. But depression doesn't care who it hits and you may find it really helpful to go along and speak to this woman.

They won't think you're wasting their time and you could get things off your chest. It could even do you a lot of good and stop things festering inside. Sometimes you don't realise you've been under stress until you suddenly snap and can't take any more!

Just be honest and remember its confidential and Im sure it will help.
