Who I am is not important. What I do is.

I would really like to see you spend a week with a special needs child and see if you think the same! I know it is possible to be too soft but you really have to apply different strategies when dealing with special needs children than you do with other children. I know this because I have 2 daughters and only one is special needs.

Tulip, my daughter is now 18 and you wouldn't know she was special needs if you met her now. When she was a child she could be difficult at times and she was hard work but she is a lovely girl now and Im so proud at how both my girls have turned out.
I realise special needs children are different but there are certain areas of behavious that need to be controlled if they are to integrate with the rest of society. For many years kids with downs syndrome were segregated but now they are being treated normaly they are doing much better in schools
You cannot use mental issues as an excuse for everything. Its like saying someone is not responsible for violence just because they were drunk. If a person is out on the street they have to have acceptable standards of behaviour for everyones safety including their own.
After saying the DSS were a lot softer I heard on the radio that they are going to toughen up again. Of course this could just be good old labour saying the right things but then doing nothing. it is rather interesting though to see the statistics of days lost through illness by the self employed against the employed. Surely self employed people get the same illnesses yet they hardly have any time off work compared to people who were employed. according to the radio nearly everyone on benefits should be preparing for work. i love the timing just as we are coming into a recession and many are being made redundant, unless the govt is going to take overindustry as well as banking

thanks :) it really helps to be able to compare, deep down I know my doctor is right, it's just when I see the cocktail of drugs I have to take everyday just makes me wonder when it will all stop.

morning all, hope everyone is ok this morning
still feeling low, been a long weekend with the kids, and today they have an inset day. also today they both have hospital appointments with pychiatrist, and both hate going there, and having their behaviour discussed, so not looking forward to that
on the positive side today, i am having an indian head massage, never had one before, but it should help relax me.
and tonight Ian is coming over to watch a film, and share a takeaway.
    hugs all

    The dreaded inset day

My day - been putting up the decorations and it looks lovely.

As I put the lights on when it gets dark, my OH talks about what are we having for tea and to pay a bill. Then I discover our back tyre is flat so I feel blooming pssed off:mad:

Why can't I get any peace or enjoyment from life and be left alone - I get far too much boredom and crap:(
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

Sorry there is no comparison between mental illness and getting drunk.People choose to get drunk, people do not choose to have mental illnesses. Lots of people who commit violent acts are sent to psychiatric hospitals instead of prison when the courts have decided they are ill not wicked

    Hi guys!hello.gif
    How's us, folks?3some.gif
Just a quick stop by tonight - back tomorrow I hope!;)

    Are we ready then?:D .....

''On the second day of December, Tiffy said to me...

    Prescriptions Time Has Come!sick.gif
Due to the holiday season, it's time to check in advance for any of your prescription refills and your delivery dates, guys. Don't leave it until the last minute!
Remember to try and work out your medication needs until the 5th January, 2009, which is when the world will hopefully return to some semblance of normality. It's not just for Christmas - please allow for your chemists' New Year holiday times too.

However, should there be a Christmas gremlin out there who forgets what Tiffy has said about prescriptions, unsure.gif, you can call your local out-of-hours GP services or NHSDirect on 0845 4647 or contact them via their website http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/ .
You can also call your local A&E Department, but please do this only IN A REAL EMERGENCY - they're going to be busy enough as it is! angel-smiley-002.gif

Your local police station should also have the contact details of any chemists/pharmacies that may be open after hours or in an emergency. Their number should be in your phone book. Please don't call 999!person-smiley-9589.gifperson-smiley-1284.gif

We're down to 23 now - see you tomorrow hopefully.wink.gif
Be kind to yourselves folks. sLo_hug2.gif

Teacher Training Day - each year five days during term-time are set aside for staff training. Pupils do not attend school on these days.
If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction.

this thread is huge so must admit I haven't read all of it, maybe the answer is already here, but I was wondering

    1. are most of the posters on her suffering from depression and taking anti-depressents
    2. I've now been on anti-depressents for nearly two years, 2008 has been much much better then 2007, but when will my doc say it's okay to stop, each time I see him he thinks 2 years is not that long.

A lot of posters but not all suffer from depression, some have other kinds of mental illness.I have had recurring bouts of depression throughout my life but managing without anti-depressants at the moment.I know doctors recommend a course of at least six months but that is the longest i have been on them, when i feel better i tell the doctor and they usualy advise cutting them down gradualy to see how i get on.If you feel you can manage without without medication mention this possibility to your Doctor and see what he/she says.
