I have gained weight whilst on anti-depressants but I put it down to the fact that I suffer from depression, no longer work and perhaps aren't as active as I used to be (although I have dogs that I walk regularly). I have been putting the weight gain down to the pill and never thought to blame the Anti-d's. I am on Seroxat (Paroxetine) and don't know if this could be the only culprit or just another factor.
I put on weight when I was on Seroxat

Did you lose weight when you stopped taking it?

I shall PM you with my reply - I fear it will attract some inflammatory replies on here and I am not strong enough to cope with it must now.

  • Well it'll be a while before I stop taking my medication, usually to be transferred to another type

Over the past 11 years, I've had one short break from taking medication.
  • Depression Linked to Abdominal Fat in Older Adults]Abdominal fat has been associated with heart disease and diabetes, and now researchers have discovered that depression is linked to abdominal fat.

Investigators at the VU University Medical Centre, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, found that older individuals with depression had a 2-fold increased risk of gaining visceral fat (abdominal fat between the internal organs) over 5 years compared with their counterparts without depression. and more detail if you click the link.

This is what I used to reduce my abdominal fat and this is the result six months later
Mind you the article does go on about inflammatory markers and I'm sure some of you will remember that I take 5000iu D3/1.8g omega 3 and 600mg mangnesium malate to deal with my inflammatory markers.

  • Ted, your weight loss is an inspiration. Does the diet work for vegeterians?

I think humans were meant to be omnivores so I really cannot bring myself to recommend it to anyone however however there is some advice here that may help.

  • Sounds very hard to follow in terms of not accidentally eating carbs without realising.
