How to cancel Setanta Sports

Hi everyone. My name is Richard and I share something with many of you in that I, too, have experienced Setanta hell. And like many of you, my Setanta nightmare is not over!
I shan't bore you with my story. Instead, I wish to invite you to join a group I am setting up to get this incompetent, selfish company to change its ways - the Setanta Action Group.
Individually we have no influence. But as members of the Setanta Action Group we can make a difference.
If you'd like to join, please email your full name, phone number and your own Setanta problem story to setantaactiongroup@yahoo.co.uk
I plan to use the Setanta Action Group to gain media coverage that will make this company sit up and take notice.
Please keep your story accurate but brief. I won't share your contact details with anyone, but I may contact you myself in relation to SAG matters.
One more thing: is there someone out there willing to set up a website that will allow people to contact SAG? I don't have that ability I'm afraid, but it would be a really useful tool
Thanks for listening!0 -
I'd be interested. Well done :T0

I was interested to see what Setanta say their cancellation policy was, and also ask about the poor picture quality on the live football, to date in the last 7 days I have sent 4 emails, 2 from their website form, 2 to the customer support email address and I am yet to receive a reply, although I just noticed they do ask for 5 working days for a reply.
Can't help wondering if this is another ploy to keep customers, by not answering such questions.0 -
Martin thanks for exposing this.
I had hassles cancelling but seems not so bad as others, my mistake to use my credit card instead of direct debit. Capital one pretty much scratched setantas back saying I had to contact setanta to cancel, they refused to block the payments. I then told capital one I wont be paying the part of the balance that is for setanta sports, they then changed their attitude a bit saying they would mark is as under sispute meaning I wouldnt have to pay it on my statement.
Then someone posted a new number on this website which worked and I cancelled over the phone.
Chrysalis, can you confirm the number you used to cancel over the phone, I have tried writing & phoning their 0871 numbers but they are still after me.0 -
I am also glad I read it, I received a flyer last week offering some sort of half price deal for the first few months and I was thinking about taking it up for my OH! Thank goodness for Matin's email!0

I've notified watchdog, whose new series starts in October.
Should give them time to compile a report.
Please let them know your stories too:
watchdog@bbc.co.uk
or write to them at:
BBC Watchdog, 201 Wood Lane, London W12 7TS

Good work guys and gals. I will be adding my name to the above if what I was told on the phone is true.
Basically I wrote to them to cancel, received on 15th July. They say I need to pay until 8th October. The reason given was that the 60 days "didn't start until the cancellation team processed the letter".
Not acceptable,
I know it is only a small amount of money we are talking about it is the principle. Naturally my direct debit has been cancelled so I await with interest the 16th September, which is when I think it should be cancellation date and also the date of the next DD payment (which will bounce back to them).
I have informed them by telephone and email of what I have done in cancelling the DD. No reply to email, grunts to the telephone call.0 -
I phoned up to cancel a few days ago and was given the Sunderland address. At no point was i told about the 60 day process. Anyway, having seen what Martin says about writing to Ireland, i phoned up with my concerns, fully mentioning this site and everyones problems (which was ignored). I was assured it was Sunderland to write to and he confirmed they were sitting at the desk dealing with cancellations now. (i think that in itself tells a story) Time will tell.
I am amazed that the FA are not voicing concerns about this because very soon Setanta will go bust and we will see another ITV Digital, hopefully anyway.
Then football may eventually have to be back on ITV and BBC before too much longer.0 -
Much as I dislike the idea of giving Sky (or anyone else) a monopoly, the sooner Setanta disappear the better.0
