I am tackling the girls bedroom as they are at Nannies for a sleep over. Got a bag of tack already. Will sort through the uniform stuff next and work out what I need to buy - both will need school shoes though so that will hurt!

    Best crack on me thinks.

Tell you what.. I'll buy school shoes AND trainers for your whole brood of children if you buy them for mine!!!

Welcome back Shell, hope you are doing ok. It must have been terrible leaving your mum there, but as everyone else has said, she needs to do everything in her own time. She wont be ready to come back yet, i'm sure when she's ready she will. Big hugs to you and your family.

Good luck with the house application Nicki.

How odd!! Maybe there is an invisible force that sucks the life force from people in that exact spot.. or maybe I watch too many sci-fi films!

Its a dangerous spot to collapse at because it is right at the river, where there is a knee high railing and that is all.

Dh is bringing a shed with him when he eventually arrives home. So I need to clear the wendy house out of the way and all the kids' bikes, scooters, etc. The wendy house we are getting rid of and then the bikes, etc. will go in the shed. So I'm going to sort that out now although I have no idea what time Dh will be home - probably around 8pm at this rate!

I'm going to do a HHC - anyone joining me?

    Afternoon all

I'm making good but slow progress in the front garden and feel better for it.

OH has been great and has cleaned all the walls around out front door which were mud splattered and polished the tiles. We have a lovely pretty front door with leaded glass and and a big arch and it now looks lovely again now.

Going to do another half an hour round the kitchen door then put the lamb in - roast today as kids got cricket all day tomorrow.

I want the front done today and then the back (not as big a job) done tomorrow so that when it is sunny and I am decorating next week I don't keep wishing I was gardening.

Shell, you don't always moan, you had heaps on your plate. You did so well with the driving in Spain. I am sure when you Mum feels ready she may return but you know it needs to be what she wants to do x

G&B stay away from that spot!

Well, so far today, I've written an email to Serena, been to the bank to get change for the car boot sale, been to another local car boot to check out prices for clothes etc to see what we should be asking for (I was very good, and didn't buy anything), made a "hidden vegetable pasta sauce" with some of the free veg that was given to OH in exchange for letting them put some rubbish in his green bin, talked to elderly neighbour, eaten lunch - wholemeal pittas with lemon and coriander houmous and grated carrot (carrot that I forgot to put in my carrot cake, which was also free) followed by the last piece of my non-carrot cake, watched holiday showdown, found a few more pieces of clothing to add to my pile for the carboot, and caught up with the thread. :o

I have a sore thumb from hand blitzing the pasta sauce (cheap Lidl hand blender that requires a lot of pressure to keep the button held in). :( Have tasted the sauce, and it seems a bit bland to me, so will definitely have to get OH to grate some cheese on top (I don't do grating cos I have long nails and want to keep them that way) when I cook the pasta tonight. I found the recipe on a vegbox website, as I was trying to find recipes with runner beans in. I still have loads of the darn things left though!

Will have to hunt out my bum bag for the booty on Monday. The bootsale is on 9-12, so I guess we should get there about 8am or is that too late? I'll make sure that I put sun cream on this time, as the only time we've done a carboot before (about 4 years ago), I got terribly sunburnt. Will also take bottles of water and a few snacks cos I remember that we also got hungry and thirsty and hadn't thought to bring anything with us.

Oh yes, nearly forgot - welcome back Shell!

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
