Polka I'm afraid I did find Jo'burg pretty dull because we were there during the riots in the 70's so we kept to our neighbourhood really and at the time I really missed my friends in the UK. You were in proper Africa ;)

Oh my,now I feel like a baby:(, I guess the closest I got to that was '94.

Moam - don't worry about it too much, March is a long way away. You need to check your contract to see what your redundancy deal is. I was terrified when I was made redundant with no warning about three and a half years ago, but it turned out for the best.

My redundancy package paid off my debts, paid for my roof to be redone and I still had some savings - and I actually got another, MUCH better (and much better paid ;) ) job which started three days after my official last day (I pretty much stopped working as soon as I knew that they were letting me go, except when I needed to use work facilities to apply for jobs!).

So you never know... you might end up better off. Use the time to get your CV up to date and think about what you might want to do.

I'm a civil servant so slightly different, but I agree March is a while away. We don't have redundancy as such, but lots of downsizing going on and if they make me a suitable offer...

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Glad to hear you do get a break! I think we probably are more paranoid about looking after other people's children anyway; I know I am  My nephew is pretty much bulletproof but I was convinced he would probably burst his appendix or something whilst his parents had their first ever child free holiday :o

I've just spent the last 2 and a half hrs painting and i haven't even finished 2 walls. OH was looking after Ds2 and promised to do the washing up. When i came downstairs at 8.45 Ds2 had only just gone to bed and the place was a tip. The washing up was only half done so i had to sort all that out and put the bins out whilst Ds2 screamed because he was over tired. He's still not asleep and OH has !!!!!!ed off home. Why is it when someone helps it ends up causing you twice as much work?
