Strumps - did the earth move for you yesterday? I heard there was an earthquake measuring 3.7 on the richter scale up near you. I know it affected Kendal and North Lancs.
I have had a totally mad day - I decided to bung on some washing (nice sunny day for a change), doing the washing seems pretty harmless but as I was reaching for the box of washing powder, I had this feeling come over me that something disastrous was going to happen - well it did, I managed to knock a large jar of pickled beetroot off the shelf to land 4ft on the floor - jar didnt break but the screwtop flew off and beetroot spewed everywhere - all over me, the washing machine, the floor, the walls, the door:mad: But...in true MSE style, I scraped up the beetroot, picked the bits of fluff off it and shoved it back in the jar. Now instead of smelling like Very Valentino perfume I am now wearing a new rather vinegary one called Eau d'beetroot:eek:
I love my job - I have an appointment with a local hotel to go and look at their rooms etc:D0 -

Any change of you blagging a free night in the hotel so you can check it out properly?:T
Strumps - I know its late and you've left, but hope you have a good time down in Devon - don't forget to have a cream tea - although it won't be as good as a Cornish one:DDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -
I don't know about blagging a free night at the hotel - it is about 5 mins drive from my flat and its half way through being refurbished.
Sorry to have missed Strumps - may send him a text.
A cornish tea is definitely better than a devon one - a cornish one has clotted cream in it and proper jam:D0 -
It was all miserable and wet this morning but the evening has turned out to be lovely and sunny.
Very hard day at work today - I'm looking forward to the long weekend.
H - you are so right about the Cornish cream tea!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Well I had better tell you all about my recent spends - I know Strumps is keen to know.
Today: £19.30 in butchers: one ribeye steak (a treat), 6 nz lamb chops, 2 chicken fillets (skin on - cheaper), half a pound of minced steak, one large topside joint with extra fat (this will make me several dinners).
£1.40 in greengrocers: 8 washed cornish mid potatoes, half a dozen eggs and a packet of dead fly biscuits (fruit shortbreads). I would have had jersey mids but they were a silly price compared to the cornish mids which are just as tasty:D0 -
I hardly dare mention my recent spends. I have well and truely fallen off the MSE wagon this weekend:
£170 to DH for his birthday present - he wants to buy a GPS handheld thingy for walking.
£109 on clothes for me and a handbag (some of the clothes may go back though)
£30 on food over the weekend
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Some good news though, my Ebay total has gone up to a quite respectable £102. However, mainly due to one item selling for just over £42. I will relist all the 99p items which did not sell and have some more items to go on, so I'm hoping for another £100 from ebay before the end of the month.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Taru, you are exceedingly naughty
I made those cinamon buns and apple cake today and my hips are SO going to regret it. :rotfl:0 -
Just to keep Strumps updated on the spends - £3.30 for daysaver bus ticket (work expense and cheaper than taking the car and paying for parking), £1.50 in village shop for 2 homemade sausage rolls and a slice of homemade lemon drizzle cake and the words...come in on Wednesdays as Wednesdays are baking days:eek:
I went to the hotel - it was ok, a bit too low end market for me though:rolleyes:0 -
