    Hei!
Yes, it is decilitres, which i suppose *is* a strange way of measuring flour if you're used to weighing it, but if you think about it, it's just a more accurate version of the blasted American 'Cups' :p - it measures volume, not weight
If you have a measuring jug from ikea, this will have dl on the side, if not, as I told horace, 100ml/100g (actually, yes, you can just use any jug, with 100ml mark being 1dl etc)
    Sorry, I'm rambling :o

And I'm a She ;) (quick grammar lesson: Taru= girls name and 'tale' in Finnish, and n = 's so TarunTaru= Taru's Tale)

Hope all are well and enjoying this beautiful weather!

    Just to get technical:

A deci-litre is a tenth of a litre, by definition.

For water, 1 litre weighs 1 Kilogram and takes up 1000cm3 of space.

This is because water has a Specific Gravity of 1.

Other things have different SGs and so this relationship does not hold true.

Eg 1 litre molten lead does not take up 1000cm3 of space and would be a lot heavier than 1kg.

For flour, the SG might be so close to 1 that 100g = 1 dl and takes up 100cm3 of space that you can get away with it in the recipe!

How much is a gram then? Like I said I only do English measurements - pounds and ounces, miles, furlongs, pecks, hogs, etc.

Oh and I reached my target for NSDs today - so thanks for the challenge :D

Oh dear.. that's all too scientific for me!! i prefer the 'its because of the fairies' explanation for things:)
Strumpet, one thing that confuses me, reading your posts, why do you sometimes have to pay for your bellringing, and sometimes not?

And Horace, yes, it's a beautiful country! Full of beautiful lakes and beautiful men ;). Though I myself am not there at the minute- I'm actually in the Peak District, returning to London soon for exams. *eek!*

I think I'd rather be in the Peak District than London anyway:D My chap lives in London and keeps asking me to visit but I really can't be bothered to drive there any more plus my eyes have been playing up (I am still convinced that my specs arent strong enough but the consultant says they are fine, its my eyes have got to start getting used to being at normal pressure as opposed to low pressure and they need to get used to seeing:rolleyes:).

I am in hazy Birmingham - on the south side which is a bit greener.

Hi Tarun, thanks so much for posting the recipes. I will give the cinnamon buns a go over the weekend and let you know how I get on. I shall be lazy and make the dough in my breadmaker.

I did have an NSD today - hooray - first one in a week! I've not done too well MSE wise these last couple of weeks - can't wait for pay day on Tuesday (just a shame I've got the weekend to go)!

    Hello!

Spends for yesterday were a bit hefty but it did include a trip to Morrisons!

    Lunch £4
    Groceries £58.73

Morrisons are doing a thing at the moment where if you spend £40 for 5 weeks out of 6, they give you £20 off your next shop of £40 or more. This equates to £20 off for £240 of shopping or 8.33% off!

Also, while at the checkout, the guy behind me was none other that Jody Latham who played Lip Gallagher in Shameless and who was recently voted out of Hell's Kitchen. Got chatting - he's quite dishy!

OH taking me out to dinner tonight.

    Tarun:
When we ring bells for Sunday Services and on practice nights - it's free. If we ring for wedding and sometimes funerals, we get paid.
When we ring for our own ends (usually peals and quarter peals) we pay a little donation (Usually between £2 and £5 but can be as much as £20 for some towers) to the tower to cover wear and tear on ropes and maintenance on bell fittings. Also, we pay a little donation to our Association to cover printing of the annual report etc.
