Horace - good news about getting some money off the glasses. That bus journey sounds truely horrendous - hopefully you can put your feet up tonight.

Strumpet - sorry you're feeling down about your job. I was feeling like that about mine a few months ago. I asked for a 1:1 with the boss. I prepared for it by writing down all my grievances and also all the bits I liked and ideas I had for improving my job etc. The meeting went really well and I felt that it cleared the air. As a consequence I feel much better about it now.

Its a difficult climate at the moment to be thinking about jumping ship so think carefully. Would you be able to talk to your boss? Would it help at all do you think? Is there anything else within the company you might like to do?

Thinking about you tonight as you step on those scales!

I used that on my FaceBook page as my status - something like...

Simon is paying £20 for a man to come round and trim his bush so the postman can get past it more easily!

That's a really good idea MrsP - I think sometimes other people at work don't always realise when something is bothering us and having a conversation about it can make all the difference. Hope things pick up with work Strumps - as MrsP says - not the best time to be looking around unless you really have to.

Tonight is the night for slobbing out - I have even had a diy kebabdebab:cool: (go to chipshop buy one portion of kebab meat with mint sauce) at home toast one pitta bread, split stuff with mixed leaves, sliced tomato and red onion stuff in some meat - have enough meat left over for another kebabdebab (I know its bad but making my own salad and sorting out my own pitta is far cheaper than the one from the chipshop.

Thanks for that Mrs P: You're absolutely right. My boss is ultra approachable. The only issue I have is that he's been really good to me and I feel like I'm letting him down a bit. He has a few health problems getting him down at the moment (bad back and in constant pain) and we have someone trying to take us to court on some spurious claim, which he's stressed about. It doesn't feel like a good time.

I always get like this when we are having a slow month sales wise - I worry about not being able to pay company bills. I hate lying to suppliers but sometimes you have to tell little porkies. It always stresses me out. Hence why I've taken today off to chill and do something I want to do even if it's just pottering about.

Taken an extra testosterone patch too to see if that helps.

It will work itself out, but I am getting itchy and really want to work for myslef but maybe not even in accounts. Or paerhaps half accounts and half something else. I want to be master of my own destiny and I am getting fed up of other people dictating what I do and how I do it.

We are short of money but production keep ordering more and more raw mats. I tell them to prioritise but they don't listen because they know best. I used to be No3 in the company but I'm being pushed down the chain a bit which doesn't bother me if that's best for the co but at the end of the day if there's no money available to pay suppliers, it doesn't matter how good I am as an accountant. I'm not a magician. This is where the stress comes from.

Big think required over the next couple of months. I'll lose co car and pension contributions, health care etc if I go. But if it's not right, it's not right.

On the plus front though, Strumpet lost another 2lb and has now lost 8lb in total. He got his Half-Stone award las night which is now proudly displayed on the kitchen cupboard where the biscuits would live if I had any in the house!

    Yippee!!!

Now weigh 13st 13½lbs and have 13½lbs to lose to reach my target.
Lost 2" off my waist too!

Strumpet - that is fantastic news about your weight loss - you are doing so well and are obviously so motivated - its brilliant. Its also a good boost to you that you now weight 13 stone something rather than 14 stone something.

Back on the job front - I too get itchy feet about every 2 years (have been in my present job 3 years - although I did get a promotion 2 years ago). So I do know exactly what you mean. Its no good how much you are paid, or how good the benefits are if you are not happy then you must indeed look for something else.

Also know what you mean about being pushed down the command chain - its really not nice and no matter how much you try and dress it up at the end of day it hurts.

Another one of my sayings is "if its meant to be then its meant to be", so there is no harm whatsoever in looking around for something else to do - no harm in applying for another job - you've got nothing to lose. Again, if you get interviews that can be looked on as good practice for you. Only time you will have to make a big decision is if you are indeed offered another job - then will come the soul-searching.

I've always had a hankering to be my own boss and own my own business. However, as the years have gone by I've decided I'm far better off where I am (even with someone telling what to do, how to do it and when to do it), as I will always know how much I'm going to earn each month and when I leave the office at 4.30pm I don't give work another thought (generally) until 8.30 the following morning. If it was my own business I would be working/thinking about it 24/7.

    I'll shut up now!

Well done on the weightloss Strumps - I need to do something as I am getting seriously fat, I tried on a size 12 top in a shop today and then couldnt get the damn thing off:eek:

Self employment: you can have a company car, you can have a healthcare plan and you can have a pension (you pay for it) somethings as you know can be offset against tax and if you join someone like the Federation of Small Businesses then you can have access to all sort so things as part of your membership. Maybe the time has come for you to start thinking and start finding out.

I had a my meeting today and it was stupendous - I have a cracking deal and will soon be as busy as anything and earning money..pots and pots of money:j I might ring you about it tonight:D

Sorry I didnt have an NSD today - I bought a pot of tea in the Radisson (business expense) for £2.50, then a stack of clothes from Fenn Wright & Manson (2 skirts, 2 jackets, 1 top and 2 scarves - these will go with some of the other tops and a skirt I bought previously). Had an embarrassing time as my Amex was rejected but then I discovered they were claiming that payment hadnt been received when it left my bank on 28 July:mad:All sorted now. Then I had my mystery shop to do - spent £10.65 - hot choc and a sirloin steak baguette with rocket and vegetable crisps, I will get £10 back:cool: Felt a bit flakey and came home instead of going to the solicitors so will go there tomorrow.

Well MrsP - I wouldnt say that I could get the size 12 on - it was a tight squeeze and then the darn thing rolled up on me and I was trapped in it:eek: I looked fat when I looked in the mirror too:o

The company concerns hires out sound equipment and they run an entertainment agency (anything from chocolate fountains to tribute bands and professional speakers). They have been looking for someone to organise events as they are always asked by clients and don't really have the expertise whereas I do having organised loads of things from motorbike rallies, black tie balls, conferences, exhibitions etc. The deal is that I do the organising and bill them so it looks as though I am employed by them - the client doesnt know and then I would get 15% of what is paid by the client. If I wanted say a string quartet then that string quartet would be supplied by the agency but it would look as though it was my string quartet supplied by me and my business and I would give them 15% - any demo discs would be sent to me, I could copy them and send them out with my sticker on them. Its such a wicked opportunity but I admit that I am bricking it which is daft because I know that I can organise events right down to the finest detail. What is more appealing is that there is stacks of money to be made from the corporate events industry - far more than from weddings:cool:

I didnt call Strumps in the end as I ran out of time and didnt think that he would appreciate a call at 10pm:eek:
