Afternoon all (Horace waves at the vat man:wave:)

Its awfully muggy here today, I went to the village this morning and it lashed down with rain but after an hour or so the sun attempted to come out the the temperature rocketted skywards:rolleyes: I had an urge to go and buy some more linen trousers (2 pairs for £15 or £9 each), so I got another white pair and a red pair. I dived into the coop and picked up a small bag of salad (a tiny bag lasts me a week) and a few other bits..have realised that I have overstocked on tomatoes too - I bought a cheapo kilo bag of the things in Lidl the other day when I already have 6 in the kitchen:rolleyes:

Eventually had the quote for my website from my current hosts and they wanted to charge me £1050 plus VAT:eek: so I am glad I am having a shiny new one from somewhere else:j

Now I am checking my 20ps to see if I have an undated one.

    Afternoon All,

DS spent a pleasant evening yesterday checking all the 20p's in the house - unfortunatley all are correctly dated.

Very hot and muggy here and no air con.

I no longer have 6 tomatoes in the kitchen - they have decided that although its warm in there that they were too cold and grew some fur coats:mad: I left them on the side because they were a bit underripe and now they are more than overripe:rolleyes:

No air con here either - its muggy, v.cloudy and just feels yukky. Mind you tornadoes have been forecast for us - we get a lot of them in brum:rolleyes:

    Hello all,

VAT visit went really well and nothing to report - all correct and he was pleased with our record keeping.

Now my worries focus on the concert on July 11th for which I am currently seriously unprepared. To cap it all I have been unable to practice due to other commitments and also have hayfever - not the best set of circumstances for singing. Anyway, I have Friday off when I shall drive to stay with my friend Hugh in Kendal and he will play the piano for me so I can practice my solos. He's very accomplished and will give me tips and sort the whole thing out. I have also taken next Thursday and Friday off to practice but mainly beacuse I have not had a holiday since OH left and I need one to recharge.

On the money front though, will get paid for this concert (assuming I don't blow it!) and for singing a week on Sunday in Wales. Got lodger's first rent today so £500 better off!

Bloody hayfever! Left me weak and feeble!

    Hi Strumpet,

Good look with the concert, I am sure you will be fine.

As for the hayfever, I know what you mean it is a real pain. I get it sometimes, but thankfully not as bad as others.

    Take care

Am so glad the vat man's visit went well:j

As for your hayfever - get some benadryl one a day or even some clarityn as these are good when you have hayfever plus they don't make you drowsy although I think you have to avoid alcohol when you take them. That should knock the hayfever on the head.

Have had another spend day today:rolleyes: - I had to pay the washing machine repair man, I feel really stupid because there is actually nothing wrong with my machine its just that when it goes into fast spin at 1200 rpm I have got it into my head that its wonky:rolleyes: I had to clear out the pantry and now I am gradually putting the shelf back in and the stuff - I need to do that so that I can get to my balcony as I have washing to hang out:rolleyes:

Hope you enjoy your hollibobs Strumps - I need a hollibob but can't have one:rolleyes: Oh and remember when I said that R had done a runner because he got cold feet well he's back - now I think its because I sent an email saying that I wasnt losing any sleep over him:rotfl: or was it the fact that I parked up outside his house the other day with my windows open and me blasting out Janis Joplin Piece of my Heart:eek::rotfl: Whatever, I did he has seen the light:cool:

I shall be careful Strumps...he can dance to my tune for a change:rotfl:

I have a quandry and need some advice from you Strumps - I have thought about becoming a bellringer again as they are looking for some at St Nicholas church on Kings Norton Green, I don't mind the bellringing but does it sit right with someone who won't go to church? I can remember being forced to go to church as a kid by my aunt (she was almost rabid about it) whereas my parents never go to church, and it put me off somewhat. Would it be hypocritical to ring bells and not go and listen to sermons?

You must think this strange but l love bells, like hymns but hate church.

I had a strange afternoon too this woman came round asking me to take part in an adult numeracy and literacy test for the government - I got one maths question wrong although I got the principle correct, she paid me £2:D Needless to say I passed because my spelling, literacy and numeracy were all ok (she was also relieved that I spoke english too).

    Hi Horace,

I would go and join the local band if you want to and not worry at all about going to Church. At the end of the day, the exercise needs ringers and loads of ringers I know, don't go to Church. You can always say (if you're embarrassed - which you shouldn't be!) that you attend a different church. Most churches with bells are Anglican although some are RC and there's the odd one which is secular (Manchester Town Hall, Morpeth Clock Tower etc). Just go is my advice!

I rang at Blackburn Cathedral last evening and it was horrendously hot and bothering! £ hours and 19 minutes of sweat and toil. The sun was beating in through the window onto my back and none of the fans in the belfry sent any cooling breeze my way. It was horrible....but we got the peal!!!

    Spent £17.60 yesterday:

    Lunch: £3.30
    Peal: £5.50
    Pizza: £8.80
