I think I'm OK with the Council tax and income tax doesn't kick in until about £4250 pa but of course I can deduct expenses from the £400 which would be bills.NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Looks good to me too Strumps.
I had a busy day today, walked to Northfield to get my car tax, my legs felt tired so I got the bus home, as I was waiting in a shop to be served the 1pm meeting rang me and asked if he could see me at midday, so he did and I had yet more expense, I have signed up to the Federation of Small Businesses because I get free banking for life and lots of other things that prove useful and even cheap credit card machines:j Whilst I was speaking to yon chappie the mystery shop people rang and asked if I would do two mystery shops this afternoon so I agreed and I will earn £20:D
Had an email from R yesterday too - he has decided that his life is too complicated (which it is) and that we had better stop what we are doing:rolleyes: I emailed back and said I didnt lose sleep over him as I am busy with the business, if he wants to visit he can, if he doesnt then its no skin off my nose (god, I sound like a hardfaced !!!!!). Part of me is a little bit hurt but life is too short and I am racing at a zillion miles an hour:D0 -
Just catching up with all the news.
Horace - sorry to hear about your op and I'll be thinking of you on 16th. Glad you bought the watch - now and again you just have to treat yourself and it sounds gorgeous.
Strumpet - good news about your lodger and I think £400 per month inc. bills is very good.
Not much news my end except that I gained a pound in weight - only myself to blame and this week hopefully I will lose it again plus an extra one (well I can always hope)! Sold a couple of books on Ebay for the grand sum of £4.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Hi all
New watch is fab and it glows in the dark:j - I know because I woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to see the time:rolleyes:
I havent had an NSD for ages:rolleyes: Friday I had to buy membership of the Federation of Small Businesses (£150 inc £30 joining fee) will be paying this by direct debit, today I bought some car insurance via the FSB and saved some money so now my car is covered for personal and business use, I turned down their legal protection cover because I get free legal protection with the FSB:j Had to go to the chemist today but used my pre-pay certificate for my prescription and I bought a pair of shorts and a top in a charity shop £5, bought 2 posh cards in another charity shop for £1.78 (89p each) and spent £10.18 in the butcher so now I am well stocked with food. I managed to get loads of meat 1lb best steak mince (he has split it into two), 6 NZ lamb loin chops (bagged in twos), a pack of chicken drumsticks (7 in a pack which are now split and in the freezer). The loin chops were the most expensive but they are really yummy and I won't eat any other lamb but NZ:rolleyes:
I have my pre op assessment on 6 July and have to be at the hospital for 9am so that means getting the bus at 7.15am:eek: (I have to get 2 buses) and I can expect to be there for 4 hours (yawn), guess they will also be doing some tests on my eye so that they know what strength lens to implant:rolleyes:
Hope all is well Strumps? Its fab news that you are getting a lodger.0 -
Horace - please don't talk to me about NSDs!:eek::eek:Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Hi all,
Sorry for being absent these last few days - feet not touching ground etc.
New lodger has moved in - he is called Andrew and is a long-standing friend of mine. His marriage has just broken up and he needed a bolt hole for a couple of months but may go to 3 or 4. We have negotiated and come up with £500 per calendar month which includes bills and food. He will not be at mine all the time though so won't be eating a full month's worth of food and anyway, 2 always eat for less than 2 x 1 if you get me. I am happy with this and so is he. First payment 01/07/2009.
My overdraft facility of £1000 reduces back to £500 on 11/07/2009 so Andrew's money will be very helpful. Mum is sending me some money too so I may be able to get my bath fixed very soon which will cheer me up.
Been having a few bad dreams lately all of which have included ExOH. Don't know why this should be - maybe it's part of the grieving process, I don't know. I have been doing very well but this week I seem to be a little upset from time to time. Trying to knock it on the head but maybe I need to undergo the trauma to fully move on. Basically I'm no longer mourning his loss, but I am still mourning the loss of companionship and the fact that he made me feel so secure. Still, having A around is helping as there's someone to talk to and he knew ExOH so we can both chat about it. I guess we are just using each other for emotional support right now!
Anyway, I need to go and prepare for my VAT visitation next week. Yippee!!! Can't wait. Oh well, if they find stuff that's wrong, i'll just smile and promise to fix it. What else can I do? It bugs me that they always approach you from a point of view that everyone is out to fiddle their VAT, which I find quite offensive.
Things are looking up though I suppose in general terms. Gonna need all your love and support on 1st August which would have been our 8th anniversary!
Strumps
Ps
Mrs P - I have started keeping a food diary so I can see where my bad calaries are coming from and I'm logging how I feel so I can spot the signs that lead to binge eating!
