Hey - welcome home Strumpet. Glad the holiday was good and the shark bit someone else! How was la dentiste this morning?0

Thanks mizmir for reminding me about Strumpet's gnashers.
I am now wondering how the poor love got on with the dentist after getting his gnashers fixed
Come on Strumpet let us know how you got on. 0 -
Dentist update:
Had to move my appointment to this morning due to my MD organising a meeting yesterday without consulting my outlook calendar - GRRR!!!
Anyway, I went this morning and was very brave (thanks to Ephemera for her help with relaxation techniques!). Result is that I need a further 3 appointments two for fillings (one of which may be a root filling) and one for an extraction (the tooth that the peach stone saw off!)
So the next month is going to be punctuated with variious appointments but I feel OK about it at the moment. Both the dentist and the dental hygienist were lovely and I was made to feel very welcome - everything was explained in full and I was told that at any point, I could stop and take 5 etc. I think I'm going to be OK with them.
Thanks for allyour encouragement guys - I couldn't have done it without you all.
On the money side of things though, today cost me £95 and the further treatment will be another £120. He gave me the X-rays free so it could have been worse. Now I definitely need to make £5 a day!!!

Sorry to hear about the additional treatment that you have to have but at least your problems are getting fixed now.
Are you a member of something like HSA or Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund where you pay a bit from your salary each month and when you go to the dentist or whatever and have some treatment you pay up front, get a receipt and send that off to the fund provider who will then pay a proportion back?
Eg. My last treatment at the dentist - examination £25 and clean/polish with him not is dreadful hygenist £25 - making £50 to pay out and I got £30 back:j
It might be worth a thought - see if your work do something.
My OH's elder sister is a dentist - she works in Westminster and treats MPs and people with silly money, I wont set foot in her place either because her latest moneymaking scheme is to bleach teeth:eek: Her fees are too expensive and anyway I love my dentist because he's kind, he knows my teeth and can cope with my jaw condition. Plus he has some photos on the ceiling to look at - I love the monkey with lots of grey hairs and I spend my time counting them whilst I am having treatment:rotfl:0 -
Morning all,
Back at work this morning and feeling very tired from a very busy weekend.
I am currently planning a range of tasty meals prepared from items currently residing in my freezer. I am SO short of money this month - my debt low point is going to take a right battering what with £215 dental fees to find. I have discovered that I could survive foodwise by only having to buy bread, milk, fruit and veg for the rest of September so I'm gonna give that a try. Not doing too badly so far - only spent £18.96 on groceries since 01/09/2008!!! Not bad for one week!
I've now paid off my Electric / Gas arrears too so I am in credit with them. This will help to offset the winter months. I'll leave the monthly DD at £89 for October and then ask to reduce it to £60 which should be enough - last quarter's bill was only £135 albeit for the summer months. (Did we actually have any summer months this year???)
I'll give you a laugh.......when I was in the dental hygienist's chair last Friday, she asked me about my dental routine and specifically what toothpaste I used. I don't think she was expecting the MSE answer of "Whatever's on BOGOF at Tesco!" as she looked rather taken aback! I don't care - she said I had good oral hygiene and so my efforts to save money on toothpaste are obviously NOT to the detriment of my teeth! LOL

Morning everyone,
I had an NSD yesterday - that's 2 this month so far so I'm pleased with that. It's making lunch from home which makes the difference - yesterday was a tin of spicy soup, but today I have cornish pasty (from freezer but cooked in oven at same time as last night's meal (also from freezer) - very MSE!) and veg from yesterday's dinner! Yum!
Spoke to Mum yesterday and she asked if I was coping with the credit crunch. I know she's there to lend a hand if I need it, but I prefer not to ask until the wolves are inside the house and not just at the door!
Have to settle a small debt this evening so no NSD today - lodegr owed money for an overpayment on the bills. I suppose technically it's not a spend though so I may discount it and claim an NSD anyway assuming I can avoid the pub after bellringing practice at Burnley!
Plan for today - set up Eagle Learners spreadsheet to monito my spending - it's brilliant.
Also joined up with Bingo Night Live (ITV) yesterday with their free to play bingo. And Anthony Crank is SO gorgeous - it's worth watching just for him!
Ps Kettle's on - anyone for a brew?
Love y'all
Strumpet

I'm feeling a little sick, I made jaffa cake bars at the weekend, cos I knew I'd be alone in the office for 2 1/2 days, but I've not stopped until I've eaten the entire heap I brought in for today.

dunno why I can't stop if they're there.

Had meant to bake last night (Twinks Hobnobs or/and flapjacks) but delivered some paperwork to my dads and ended up drinking wine instead....
Promise to bring some another day - do you want them with or without chocolate?0 -
