Haven't managed to log in since last Friday - 5 days now. 'Get updating come back in 5 minutes' or 'Sorry a problem has occurred' or now I am getting 'cahoot is currently unavailable'.

This is at exactly the same time as cahoot send me an e-mail to say the there are no problems but there was a short technical problem yesterday.

Do I assume everyone has the same problem or can some people get access to the service?

    As per earlier post:
"Our technical teams have advised that all customers will be able to access the webpage either by refreshing the internet page they are using our pressing the ‘F5' key. This will allow you to access the website via one of our alternative servers."

Works for me when I get the '5 minutes' page.

thanks martyn4764 - I had seen that and tried it before but it did not work. Currently I only get the 'A problem has occurred' message so can not try again (actually did try but it didn't work!).

I'll have to keep at it. I would phone them but I'm in Thailand at the moment so not so easy.

    Update:

After many e-mails that basically said nothing I got through on the phone and they said there was a specific problem with accessing my account and they fixed it in about 30 seconds. Why can't they do that by e-mail? Obviously they never even bother to try and see if there was a specific problem.
  • similar problems to others yesterday and right now. service is suspended.
    I checked the url
    https://securebank(dot)cahoot(dot)com/servlet/com.aquariussecurity.bks.security.authentication.servlet.PartialPasswordServletBKS

to see it it could be a security breach. I am curious that it leaves the connection open for longer than the normal time-out.

what they need is another server to announce exactly what is happening and estimated time to fix.

are they subject to a current DDoS attack for example

They need to get their act together. Almost every time I try to log in these days I get the 'Error - Service is suspended' screen. Getting to the point where I can't rely on it as my primary current account.

Passed that point long ago. Why stay with them? What possible advantage is there?

Move to First Direct - you won't regret it, and you could also get a £100 switching payment.

    Isn't there a monthly fee @ First Direct ?

Not if you hold another FD product, e.g. £1 deposited in a savings account (other than Regular Saver/RS ISA) waives the £10 per month fee.

    Sorry - forgot about that.

Is there a charge to bank with first direct?

Banking with first direct usually costs £10 a month, but it's free when you pay in at least £1,500 to your 1st Account each month, or maintain an average monthly 1st Account balance of £1,500, or hold a selected first direct additional product.

Maybe not for everyone, but it sure beats anything Santander can offer in terms of efficiency.
