Something strange because you can always get on A&L and its been hard to log on in the last two days .Must be lots of folks trying to take money out or just making a check to see they are still going.

Isn't A&L now part of the same group as Abbey (and Cahoot) ?

No transactions can be done at all (not even over the phone when they were open).

I have a CHAPS payment that was arriving in my Cahoot account today, but they informed me it won't get processed until tomorrow now (assuming they are back up tomorrow).

They did say I would be compensated for the loss of any interest.

I logged onto Cahoot on Monday and again yesterday, with no problem.

Just tried now, and there is a notice saying 'closed for routine maintenance' or something like that.

But Santander is fully covered by the compensation scheme (ie it isn't a passport scheme) and I suspect that the govt would have checked them out before doing the deal on bradford and bingley, so I'm not panicking (yet!)

It is annoying though, because I need to make a transfer from my savings account otherwise my current account won't have enough in it to cover direct debits that are about to go out (though it would be a bit rich if they hit me with charges cos their site was down!)

  • I was told that if I do incur any expenses as a result of their website failure, that they would look at compensation 'on a case to case basis'

I don't think they could get away with charging you for going overdrawn etc, when there services are unavailable.
  • It is absolutely infuriating that Cahoot is not providing any information about this outage. This site is the only place that I could find information that confirmed that there was a system problem. I'd like to know a bit more about the nature of this problem, and how long they think it's going to last. Their techies (I am one) have to have some clue - at least to estimate between hours and days.

Yes, I can't believe they think the following two statements are suitable in the circumstances:

carrying out essential maintenance to improve the service that we provide to our customers and

This will result in our website being unavailable for a short time.

I wouldn't class over 24 hours as 'unavailable for a short time'.

As I said earlier too, it isn't just the website that is unavailable - but what appears to be their entire banking system..... :(

And still down at 6.30am. How can you trust a bank like this?

I've been waiting for a CHAPS transfer since Tuesday 7th for a closure request from my Kaupthing account. ING are saying that these funds should be transferred to the nominated account on Friday 17th. I hope the Cahoot site's up and running by then, because it'll be another delay in not being able to access my money if it's not. I'm getting really stressed by all of this now!
