Bandwith throttling-how to avoid?

I think that you do not understand the term " throttling ", that to me means deliberate slowing of the speed available to the customer, IDNet do not throttle speed...end of.

Exactly. I think they charge £1 per GB if you go over your monthly allowance.

ok but look at what you get for your money and what i get for mine!

the speed your on you would in no way achieve that amount of download usage in the time allocated especially as you will never achieve full download speed (so whos the one being ripped off??)

you who never achieves 8 meg speed ( probably 90 % at 4-6 meg and at peak times less than 2 meg as quoted on IDnets T&C's)with your 30GB limit per month for 25 quid (or 35 quid for 60GB)

or me with unlimited on my 20 meg (though never achieve it but 90 % of the time is above 15 meg download but throttled to 10 meg at peak times ONLY if over my 3 GB limit during peak times) on 30 quid (who will be getting 50 meg upgrade for free) sorry 26 quid a month for the first 12 months as on virgins website

You can very easily download 30 GB on an 8 meg connection. I've went over the limit before.

If you're happy with your broadband, then I'm glad for you. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make though.

I couldn't give a stuff how much download allowance you get with Virgin, I am not interested, all I am saying categorically is you are / were wrong to say all ISP's are throttled, they are not..end of.

I wouldn't use Virgin if it was available to me, been there, had the nightmares, got the T Shirt etc..:rolleyes:

I agree, I average 120gb-160gb per month on a 8meg connection.
