I gave you the answer at post number 2.;)0 -
you will only get throttled if your a very heavy downloader and we're talking over 3 GB in an hour (very hard to do) even on my 20 meg broadband (cable oh sorry optical blah!)
its more than likely that (i'm taking it your on BB over a phoneline) your being bottled necked purely because of the amount of users in your area (they don't have to be on your ISP because most of them use BT exchanges)
also what affects your speed is your distance from the exchange (further away less speed) hence why they only ever say UPTO 8 meg you will NEVER GET FULL SPEED EVER!!!
And EVERY ISP will throttle you, read your T&C's and it will say FAIR USEAGE....which is another way of saying we will throttle you for down loading to much
Also the websites your visiting may have alot of users that will slow it down....there are a hell of alot of factors that causes slow BB most have nothing to do with your ISP
if you was being throttled you would be down to 1 meg (which unless you was downloading from a known fast site) you wouldn't see a different in accessing normal web pages because its THEIR servers which can affect your speed
and what do you think the rest of the country is doing at 6pm???? erm going on the internet by any chanceIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Not so. Not every ISP has a "fair usage policy", and so not every ISP throttles those who download too much. Mine doesn't.
They will in time
And for the OP i download over a GIG ever night and have never been throttled and i'm on virgin who is probably one of the worse for it.......If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I'm with Demon.net
They have a 'fair use' 40Gb limit (over a rolling 30 day period) Worse i've got off of them is a wee email saying basically "You've Downloaded 55Gb over the past 30 days, Please watch your downloads."Laters

No, they won't. I'm not on an "all you can eat" package. I have 30 GB a month download bandwidth (with unlimited uploads).
I wouldn't go near an "unlimited" package for that very reason. They're not unlimited, they just won't tell you what the limit is.0 -

if you go over that download limit you will be restricted "THROTTLED"

as i said a fair usage policy go over it and be throttled....simple

I think that you are confusing throttling .. with usage.
My ISP does not throttle ie; restrict speed deliberately, however I pay for a given amount of bandwidth, that is what I pay for, that is what I use, no throttling, no speed slowdowns at any time, day or night.0 -

IDnet is the only one so far that claims to not throttle you as long as you stick within the limit....ie fair usage go over that limit and you will get throttled.......its just another way of saying it
virgin for example say unlimited but in reality they do the same thing as fair usage i download to much and they throttle me....
just like virgin say their cable is optical....bull because its cable that comes from the exchange down my street into my house (i know because i've been in it with a virgin engineer)
its just how each ISP word it...when infact its the same thingIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
