    thanks for the responses ... i had a mr one myself and the whats it called always got stuck in the bread ... fair annoying that was ... will look into the panasonic then

    saw a link to a recipe for banana bread for a panasonic on here - do I need to line the breadmaker for this type of mixture please?

    I have a panasonic breadmaker too! I can't remember the last time I bought a loaf of bread. I usually bake the XL White loaf but I add a teaspoon of malt extract to each loaf (& the end of a teaspoon of a crushed Vitamin C tablet to help with rising). My DH read in an old Raymond Blanc book that the French tend to put a little malt extract in their loaves as it helps bring out the flavour. I personally can't tell any difference but my DH agrees with Raymond Blanc that the flavour is subtly enhanced. Might be useful info for someone?

    Also has anyone got a tried & tested naan bread recipe and/or pitta bread please? I'd be most grateful.

    I love malt extract in my bread, delicious :drool:

    I use Claudia Roden's pita recipe & it always turns out well, I can PM it to you if you like? :)

    Yes please!!! I'm feeling confident at the minute to try to 'branch out' into pittas & naans from loaves & bread buns!

    oh you'll love home made pittas, they're a whole world away from shop bought :)

    PS ... I've only got it written out in Imperial measures as it's from a really old book, I'll see if I can do some Metric equivelants

    Hi, I was intending to buy a MR fastbake bread maker 2 weeks ago however i got delayed in ordering it and now amazon are charging £20 more :eek: so i have been looking around, I came across the SD255, i know this is an older machine and im looking at buying a used model as i just cant afford the new ones. As long as the one i am bidding on doesn't go to high i will be the proud owner very soon i hope!

    The thing is, from what i have read the bread machine instructions tell you to put yeast in first, then dry ingredients then water last. But everything i have ever read about using a bred machine says to add water first and yeast last so they don't mix until its time (i will be using the timer feature very often so my kids have nice freash fruity bread first thing) so.... What you you do, yeast first water last as per instruction or the opposite way around?

    I do yeast first and water last and never had a problem.

    Whichever make you get in the end,I would do what the manufacturer recommends.I know the Panny is different to most other makes-I have a 256.I always put yeast in first,then dry stuff,then water,and its always great.Good luck bidding.
