I bought a Kitchen Craft extendable bread keeper from Amazon with a slicing guide which sits within the bread keeper and the slice guide gives just the right sized slices. I think it's great and it only cost £10.68 incl P&P.

    I'm sooooo excited! :j

A few minutes ago I ordered my first ever breadmaker (to be collected on Tuesday). It's the new Panasonic SD-ZB2502BXC so not very MSE but I've been saving to buy it since April and besides I deserve a treat as the last few months have been really hard.

I thought it's not going to be out till the end of June so got really excited when I saw it's in stock (only one left now!) and just HAD to buy it.

I look forward to reading the whole thread in the next few days and will probably be a frequent visitor here!

Picked up my breadmaker and reading the manual just now. I wish I could make my first ever bread today but we have to finish the one we've got first. I'll make one tomorrow though. Hope it'll be as yummy as everybody says.

put it on timer so you've got a loaf for morning, that way you get to use your new toy tonight :D but don't have to use the bread till tomorrow

    Hi Folks

I know this subject has been done to death but I'm after some reassurance that I have not just made another costly mistake.

I reinstated my breadmaker today, after almost keeling over when I bought a loaf of plastic bread at the garage for £1.89, only to find that the damned thing wouldn't turn on. Its a cookworks argos job, made ok bread but nothing to get excited about.

Well in a moment of stroppiness I've just ordered a Panasonic SD2501 from Amazon. It should be here tomorrow and I am quite excited. Hubby will blow his top as I am prone to buying gagets and then cupboardizing them.

Can someone just reassure me that I have not just wasted £100+
    !!!

I bought the Panasonic 257 just before christmas (the one your breadmaker is replacing) and it is fantastic, pop the ingredients in before I go to bed, bread ready by the time I get up - simples :)

I have not bought a loaf of bread since and you can make all sorts from it, dough for bread rolls, pizza dough, it is just really really good.

Be prepared to put a few pounds on tho - hot bread is very very seductive :)

OO thats a snazzy one :D

I ordered this one recently http://www.letsgodigital.co.uk/index.n/productlist/group/BREAD/null/1 to replace a slightly older model.

Top tip is to leave it on the side in the kitchen instead of putting it away out of sight.

Mine goes on the timer every night and i can honestly say that in the last 3 years or so there are only a handful of times when it hasn`t been used.

We make bread overnight and things like pizza dough or fancy bread for toast like the sundried tomato one during the day. The last one more than paid for itself and this one will be the same. If i don`t put it on then hubs does as he`s addicted to good bread. Saves us an absolute fortune and no more eating the expensive plastic rubbish thats sold as bread in the shops.

    Enjoy your new toy!

I've got a Bush BM538. I've had it for years sitting in the loft, never been used. It has now been brought down and I am going to take the plunge soon and attempt a loaf. Just have to go to Asda to buy ingredients.

Hello - First post here, been reading for ages, I LOVE the OS threads!

We have a Panny, it is brill, fantastic bread everytime (apart from if the yeast is getting a bit past it, still eatable but a good reminder to replace the yeast!).

Had other makes in the past, and I think they are a bit more hit and miss, some are not good at all and put people of breadmakers, but really, if you have one that works for you, it will save loads of money and more importantly, the bread is miles better than the stuff in the supermarket.

(if you want wholemeal loves we find a mix of 50/50 white and wholmeal works better than 100% wholmeal flour)

And yes, the aroma of fresh bread wafting up the stairs in the morning is wonderful!
