I have a 255 and use the timer every time as I set it up at bedtime and wake up to the yummy smell of bread in the morning. I put yeast and sugar in first, then flour, then salt, oil and water. Works every time..unless I forget to make sure the paddle is on properly!

I`ve just replaced my old SD254 with a SD256 and i use it on the timer every night.

I always add the water first and then the salt and butter. Pop the flour on top and use a knife to make a seal with the flour right to the edges so the water can`t seep through and then put the sugar and yeast on top.

I`ve never had a problem even when on the full 12 hours for the timer.

I don`t know how much the one is that you`re watching but my new one has just been delivered from here http://www.letsgodigital.co.uk/index.n/productlist/group/BREAD/null/1

This is by far the cheapest site for the Pannys and they do free next day delivery if you order by a certain time.

    Can`t recommend them highly enough.

I've got the latest version - can't remember number - and put the yeast in first, then flour , the the other ingredients. Also sometimes use the timer as well. I generally do the bread in the evening, rather than on timer overnight, as I find that it's hard for me to slice it straight out of the machine, or even after an hour. I get door stops!
  • Sunny thank you thats very helpful :D I was trying to spend under £50 as it is a second hand one i was bidding on but it still has a week left and is already at £40 :( I think i will end up buying a new 256 instead but it might have to wait until i can afford it, me and my partner are both on benifits (hes been looking for work for almost a year but there just arent any) and so even £50 is a HUGE amount of money to us right now.

I got this slicer here. I used to use a knife and thought my slices were good, but this is fab for £15.40. It's also great for gammon and beef.
