Good to know! thank you Sam
Do you use the timer feature aswell? One of the reviews i read said that because things go in the opposite way the time function messed things up as it spent all night with the yeast and water mixing...

I've only ever used the timer once. I try to remember when i'll need more.
When i had lunch there were only a couple of slices left in the freezer for later so started a new loaf .......... eeeemmmm can you smell that.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Hi purple - I have the 255 and use the timer frequently - usually overnight and I've never had a problem. The loaf is usually yummy and it makes the house smell fab in the morning! I also put yeast first and water last. Also make it without salt and sugar and it works just fine!0

i use the timer function on my panny 256, put the yeast in first, liquid last and i have never had a rock. i love my panny, i had another breadmaker before this, which i gave away as i was never that impressed with the results, this makes lovely bread for everyday use, sandwiches etc. i havent brought shop bread since ive had it, i make pizza dough, which is lush, rolls, nann bread. would definately reccomend to anyone.0

The thing is, from what i have read the bread machine instructions tell you to put yeast in first, then dry ingredients then water last. But everything i have ever read about using a bred machine says to add water first and yeast last so they don't mix until its time (i will be using the timer feature very often so my kids have nice freash fruity bread first thing) so.... What you you do, yeast first water last as per instruction or the opposite way around?
I have a 252 (I think!) and have always added stuff in the order that was most convenient. For me that isn't yeast first, or water first and I haven't had a duff loaf yet.
I tend to do: flour, yeast, any nuts or seeds and then water. That works with or without the timer for me.

I have the 254 which is pretty much the same as the 255 but without the raisin dispenser thingy and have always put yeast in first, water in last and use it with the timer more often than without. Bread has turned out perfect every time.0

Putting the yeast in first and the water in last is another way of ensuring that the yeast and water don't mix until it's time. When you add the water it doesn't run down to the bottom of the pan; it sits in a puddle on the top after wetting a thing layer of flour.0
