  • I must admit I just give mine a wipe over, but more because I am lazy! I take it you mean the bread pan and not all the electrical bits?

    Has the coating become damaged? I think think the only way you will find out is if you give it a whirl.

    Just read my handbook and it says in two places "do not submerge in water" I would make sure it is perfectly dry and give it a go. Stand well back in case it blows up:eek::rotfl:Good luck

    umm I may need some help.... I have just been given a SD253 & it was a bit grubby so I decided to give it a really good clean..... I took the bucket bt & soaked it & have since found someinstructions online & they say never to submerge it in water :confused: have I just killed the breadmaker before I have even used it?

    I have the 55 and the first time I used it I put the pan in the dishwasher. It was fine but haven't done it since as don't want to ruin it.

    Pretty sure yours will be OK.

    As above, make sure it is fully dried before using.
    The bottom of the pan can be dismantled. If you are worried & reasonably competent; to save time, take apart using a screwdriver and allow the pieces to dry separately, then re-assemble and use.

    [caveat] I haven't needed to dismantle the pan myself yet, but spares are sold so it shouldn't be too big a job to complete. Maybe see if you can find instructions for this beforehand?

    A couple of times I have got the underneath of the bread pan wet by mistake. I turn it upside down and leave it on top of the cooker when I have something cooking to make sure it is quite dry.

  • Just made my 2nd loaf in my new Panny 254 - successfully :) (Been using a Prima happily for years)...
    I totally agree with the notion that HM beats supermarket everytime on quality but I'm not so convinced by the "value" argument, nor how much money can be saved...

    I've just sliced up my loaf - and got 14 slices including end crusts out of an XL - how does that compare to ready sliced from the supermarket? Not that good I venture.

    What's the most slices anyone has achieved...?

    I'm sure Tesco value bread is cheaper than HM made especially once you factor in the cost o the machine. It depends what you want though, I like to know what has gone into my bread so prefer HM.

    Whilst posting - tip for you - when making pizza - if you roll your dough out on cornflour you will get a really nice crisp base.

    There's a recipe for malt loaf in my panasonic handbook - I have made this, it's not the same as the Soreen loaf, but I freeze mine and toast it with butter, lovely.

  • eek - just had my first major disaster (ok well 2nd if you include soaking the pan lol)

    I put a loaf on this morning & I've just got it out & its cack - the top is only just cooked & the bottom is cooked as normal, plus the paddle was stuck in it - any ideas what I have done wrong?
