I now don't line my tin for cakes as it is much easier.

I cook the cakes on the bake only option and most only need 55 minutes my fav being cerry & marzipan it is lush and i've made three in the last 10 days.

the banana and walnut cake is nice too great when you have ripe banana that no one will eat.

any chance of the recipe for the cherry and marzipan cake sounds lovely.

  • I love my SD253 which has served me well at 3 loaves per week for the past 3 years, but it is now a bit burnt looking and the pan has lost some of its anti-stick properties.

I was sent another virtually unused example - but the grey collar that the lid rests on has cracked in the post. Any idea how to detach this from the machine? If I could do that, I'd be able to swap the collar from my old machine onto the newer one.

    All advice welcome!

So do you have to mix it all together first or just whack it in and bake?

I had to return my 255 as the seed dispenser stopped working. Argos replaced it with a new one but now I know what posters meant about noisy/squeaky machines - the breadpan does not fit as firmly in my new machine and the noise it makes...well, I am considering taking it back but don't want to get an even worse one!!!:confused:

I mix in a bowl first and then transfer to the BM. I don't line the BM tin, but i guess some people do.

Press and hold down the "start" button until the display disappears, and you can start again ;)

  • I would switch it off at the wall and leave it for 5 minutes, then switch it back on and put it on the right setting.
