Panasonic Breadmakers Tips and Quick Questions Thread

  • After nearly over 3 years of continous use, my beloved Panasonic BM has gone 'pop' - quite literally. DH started a loaf this evening and, just after it started mixing, I heard a 'pop' and all the plug sockets in the house tripped. DH reset everything, replaced the fuse in the plug and it went 'pop' again.

    Now we are in a bit of a pickle as we cannot afford to buy another Panasonic BM but after having one I won't downgrade as it really has been worth the money. We're hoping to get it repaired as my cousin is an electrician and we should be able to source the parts quite easily, which would be the only cost as he would repair it free of charge.

    IF I'm not able to repair it, does anyone know the cheapest place to buy a new Panasonic BM?

    Thanks!

    I got mine (SD-255, retails at £99) from ebay early this year. I can't remember the exact price but it was something like £60 + £10 postage. It was nearly new, and in perfect working order.

    If you really cant afford a new one , i would save up for a couple weeks , i know its hard being without what your used to , but at least you know what your purchasing was worth it!

    Didn't it have a guarentee.. :shocked::confused:

    I will keep a look out on ebay and what not for you! hopefully it can be fixed though :confused:

    look out for offer from say marshall ward as if you join their online newsletter they will send you offers online. They often send me £30 or £25 off my next order.

    I got £30 off mine so £49 but remmebr you have to join their email newsletter.

    Hi michbright,

    I hope you manage to get your machine going. There was a recent thread on where to find the cheapest panasonic breadmaker so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

  • Check Argos, i think it was £80, or £100 with the nut dispencer.
    At the moment they are also giving vouchers off your next purchase.

    Guarantee ran out in 2006 as it was purchased in 2005 so I can't fall back on that unfortunately.

    Since posting I have discovered I still have a balance left on some Amazon gift vouchers I was given last Christmas, which would knock the price down considerably so might just purchase it using that. I really really can't be without my breadmaker - we use it constantly for everything from bread to pizza dough. The only thing I didn't do with the old one is bake cakes in it.

    Thanks for all the replies and for merging this with the relevant thread.
  • I've seen on here how Panasonic is the god of breadmakers - I've just seen one advertised second hand for £15 - it has a raisin and nut dispenser apparently - does that mean it's a newish model does anyone know?

    I believe there is a new model but as long as you are assured it works I'd grab it with both hands if I were you!!:money:
