Post Office Phone

Been looking at PO as their deals including braodband seem very reasonable.
My query is they claim their line rental £9.95 is cheaper than BT and all calling features will also be transferred.
The only feature we currently use and would want to keep is caler display which is free with BT and £1.75 with PO.
If I transferred would I pay £9.95 or £11.70?
May not seem like a lot but we are moving house in a couple of weeks and I'm currently reviewing all of my utilities options.
Thanks0 -
Clever wording by the Post Office, isn't it?
Leave your line rental with BT - all options for voice telephony and broadband remain open then.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks Heinz, I'm guessing it's £11.70 then
£25.95 for line rental and unlimited 8MB broadband is the best I've found. I'm not eligible for any LLU services due to the exchange so my options are limited.0 -
The PO do charge for caller display.
But the issue isn't quite as clear cut as previously, as taking out a new phone with bt now involves everyone in a minimum contract (12/18 months).
The PO only require 15 days notice if you want to move on, making them best for keeping all options open. (PO also include free calls after 6.00 and all weekend in the £9.95 rental.)0 -
Don't think The Post Office allow CPS though.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

Thanks all. After reviewing my broadband usage I've decided to stick with BT/18185 and Madasafish and have initiated the transfers.
Never bothered with Primus previously as eve/wend calls were only £1 per month but. Now BT have changed their evening rates I'll speak to Primus when I move.
Thanks again.0 -
Of course, provided you agree to a renewable 12 month contract, you can get BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan (formerly BT Together Option 2) for nothing now. It's similar to Primus Saver Option 2 except the inclusive (free) calls are limited to 60 minutes each instead of Primus's 90. OTOH, they count towards free Caller Display and, if you must use it, 1571.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've had a few letters off BT for that offer but with moving I didn't take them up on it. May be tempted to go for a 12 month contract to tie in with the BB contract. Thanks for pointing out the caller ID issue Heinz.
Got rid of 1571 months ago when I bought a some new handsets with an answering machine. Now at least we can see when a message has left, rather than next time you use the phone which could be days later !! Just wish other people would cotton on the the fact that it is a rip off as it's still costing me when I phone people. I used to hate getting the BT message when I phoned home, much prefer the engaged tone !0 -
Only BT has to allow CPS - and, AFAIK, only BT does.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
