OK I think the USB is a lost cause as far as file recovery is concerned, think the files that were on there have been over written.

If you highlight "C" and hit the green checkmark the box will disappear and a side pane will open in the main window
will have something like "Root" at the top, then "Deleted" then "Lost" and "Search"
Then go to the Tools menu at the top and select "Find Lost Data"
This will open a box, just hit the green checkmark it will start scanning, could take some time.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

OK Trade, within that I can now see all my folders on the left hand side, and all my files on the right hand side, under "Condition" on the right hand side, some are "Good" some are "Poor" some are blank

Blimey, that was quick, my scan is still running, anything good will/should recover well, anything poor, difficult to say until you try. Do you see the files you are looking for amongst it all?

OK, minimise everything to your taskbar, and right click anywhere in a clear spot on your desktop wall paper, select "Create New" and Folder
then bring back up the recovery console and right click on the file name and select "save to" and in the pop up select the new folder on your desktop

Sorry that should read "New" and "Folder"

and right click on the file name and select "save to" and in the pop up select the new folder on your desktop
Do that for each one of your files, and they should appear in your New Folder on the desktop

Unfortunately this bit I can't simulate with you as I use a file shredder to delete so there is nothing recoverable on my system.

OK Trade, I've recovered what files & folders I can, around about 20 folders, some still have details within them :j some folders are blank, having a quick look it looks like I've got some details back :j

I'll have to go through each folder & file individually, to see what I've managed to recover, it's rather late now, something for me to do first thing tomorrow.

I'll let you know what I've managed to recover, without your help, time, and dedication, I've have made NO progress, I cannot thank you enough, all I can do is say, I genuinly mean it when I say THANKS A MILLION :A ;)

You're most welcome, ensure any important files you have, that you always back them up, either to another internal hdd, or external drive and or burn them onto dvd. I always keep at least 2 and often 3 copies of all my important files on different drives and also on dvd

Tomorrow I'll check what I've managed to save, sort them out, and then I'll clarify with you how to keep 2 individual records.

Sleep well, I know I will now :rotfl: ;)
