    OK trade

I've paused my security and started a scan.

Just FYI the moment I click scan (E) at 1% of the scan, I can see all my missing folders / files, what if I click cancel on the scan at that stage, will I be able to access my missing folder / files
Yes you could try that, I'll run a test on my system and see if that can work.

    Please excuse my interfering
You're not interferring Dave, your helping me out, once I'm able to get my personal information back, I'll decide whether I'm going to carry on with my original excercise, based on my knowledge, I doubt it very much!

Yes if the folder or files are listed you can stop the scan and recover the items listed

I have just stopped a scan at 40% and recovered a folder from the list

No, it's crashed again, OK, I've got the scan window open, I can see all my missing files / folders how do I get my folders back?

If I highlight each folder individually, then hit "Restore By Coping" where do the files go to?

By defaut it selects the folder C:\Restoration same place you are running the program from, I wouldn't get fancy at this stage, just accept that, and you can move them after assuming you get them.

    OK trade, I'm selecting C:

C: opens up, I make sure the file name is correct, and the drive is C:, I click on "Save" and it crashes

I've opened up C: a couple of folders I've tried to save are in there, but when I open them, nothing is in the folder.

Was afraid that might happen since it is crashing on the scan, do you see any of the individual files, rather than the folder they were in, could try stopping a scan as soon as you see a file you recognise and try to recover it, will still crash but you may get the file across.

Yes, I'm on the laptop now, although the desktop is on, but I don't have those missing files / folders on here.

No, I can only see the folders, trade, at least we've established under this programme that my files are somewhere on my system, just a question of getting into them, although this is the only programme that's showing them, as you know, I've done a search via start>search, but nothing came up.
