Hi all. Reovery is taking a long time. I developed a haematoma which burst and poured blood everywhere so wound is now still open
My husband goes back to work tomorrow and i'm dreading it. Although i might be able to get Lewis into some sort of routine. Had no chance the last 3 weeks with a steady flow of visitors and lack of sleep

How is everyone doing? Bet free Christmas and new year?

i know i have been MIA in this thread but I have been trying to sort out my money issues again. been a bit depressed and trying to prevent the black cloud mind set. i have always battled with depression and i am now aware of how easily i can slip back there.

anyway congrats CC! i am sorry to hear you have had nothing but medical complications and a horrible birth. So I hope you are healing now nicely, bonding with Lewis (great name - Martin Lewis your inspiration? ) and creating those magical memories. I know your husband has gone back to work now but I hope you have the support you need.

david - sounds rough, but the only way to go now is up. I think you should maybe head to the debt free boards, there are others in there with real inspiration for us all of when the S hits the fan.

i go on holiday for the first time in 2 years not this friday but next, only 4 day break in madrid but excited to just get away from it all.

also today, i got 2% inflationary pay rise and 0.5% discretionary increase. not much, but hell of a lot better than some folks and really means the world to me at the moment.

Your holiday sounds really good, Madrid is certainly on my list - am sure you will have a wonderful time there.

thanks for the message. sometimes you just need to get over yourself? i always try and think that my problems are 100000000000 x better than others out there.

i have the freedom to vote, freedom to apply for any job, freedom to be the owner of my destiny rather than slave to my birth.

i always believe the worst thing is thinking you have no control of your life.

madrid was lovely, i thoroughly recommend you stay near the retiro park, have a oogle and you will see it is extremely pretty. though unless you are art mad there is only enough interest for a 4 day visit.

my OH loves football so we went to the bernebeu (sp!!) there was a match on and it was great to hear the sighs, gasps, boos and cheers. really atmospheric.

the weather was so so but we did a lot of walking and i feel thoroughly healthy from the expedition even if my feet feel like they have gone to war

just thought I'd pop in and say that this is an excellent thread. I agree with the going cold turkey - I can't even gamble a bit. Even if I do win then I want to gamble even more. I think the worst thing that can happen to a gambler is winning because then you gamble you winnings and then some! I have now installed betfilter and as all my gambling is online that should stop it. Before betfilter I kept having loads of 'relapses' that weren't as bad as the old days of losing hundreds but bad enough. I found this poem which is pretty popular about recovery from addiction by Portia Nelson which I think really applies to me at least:
