hun - its foraging time. whether you go out and pick your fruit from the hedgerows or a Pick your own farm - or simply forage by asking family and friends to pass on unwanted bounty - Home made jam is always superior to shop bought! also, keep your eyes open in the supermarket too - fruit is often heavily discounted when its slightly past its best - perfect for jam making tho!0

I was amazed to find that starting a window box of herbs (basil, mint, rosemary and others) has brought me no end of joy! Even if there's not a lot left in your food cupboard you can always make fresh pesto to go with pasta etc.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi lisa,
In your shoes I'd declutter, declutter and maybe do a bit more decluttering.
What about gardening? It's not too late to sow some salad seeds. Do all those jobs that you didn't get a chance to catch up on while you were working and get yourself ahead with jobs you won't have time to do once you start college. Fill the freezer perhaps so you'll have lots of homemade ready meals to eat when you get home.
If you still have time leftover after all the suggestions you've had, this thread may give you more ideas:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

cupcakelisa - you sound really positive! I was thinking.........if you are into jam making then how about doing some chutneys too? loads of recipes online! and for some reason (because they taste good?) people love having gifts of homemade jams and chutneys! Christmas pressies for friends and some relatives are then sorted out! you may like to amuse yourself by 'designing' your own labels on the computer too! If you are in Aldis have a look and see if they still have the packs of sticky labels for printing???????????? I think the super six in Aldi include plums - I had some on Friday and they are very sweet and delish...........Plum jam?0

Join the flylady thread - its amazing how satisfying a clean house is. You feel much more inclined to do productive things. Grocery Challenge is great too.
Growing your own veg if you have a garden is a great way to save money. You mentioned batch cooking - do you have lots of freezer space?
Can we have a general area? I've got lots of suggestions for Glasgow area, but others might be able to be more helpful (ie. No fruit foraging going on here until at least September!)
