  • I use my HTC smartphone and the bf uses his Iphone, they both have apps you can download and use the phones as the GPS. Probably not as accurate as the proper ones, but good enough for what we want for now.

I only have a regular phone and it doesn't have a GPS app. However, my OH looked up GPS for the PSP and there's software you can get for that. It's £50 on amazon  but it's cheaper than buying a handheld GPS. LOL maybe my youngest DS will let me borrow his smartphone :o

  • i voluntreer at a Brownie pack and i find it very rewarding, i do a couple a month at the very most. Were a young couple without any children in our family and i find it keeps me in touch with the next generation. They teach me just as many things as i teach them and we have a laugh.I also enjoy the sense of community. Id really recommend it!!

  • My first thought was Geocaching, we do it and LOVE it. Both at home and whilst on holiday.

Old style GPS units secondhand are pretty cheap on ebay, and there are a few really cheap japanese GPS units on there too...

Do you play computer games? I assume you have a pc and reasonable net access - there are a lot of free-to-play games online which have an active community, so you are not only playing the game but chatting to others all over the world. Not really my thing, but OH spends lots of time with online friends.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • just been looking at Geocaching. Do you have to join up for it - the ones I was looking at you seem to have to pay?

I always thought the x-box was a waste of money and a bit silly but my niece bought one and she and her Dh do things with the children on it - and they have a lot of fun. Dd just got one too as her and sil don't go out much with the new baby at night. I have revised my view now although I think I would just play gran theft auto on it constantly :rotfl:

Being home 24/7 as a carer I am used to keeping occupied and I sew, knit, x- stitch and have just taken up watercolour painting again. During the day, petrol permitting, we go to local museums, the library and are particularly fond of sitting at a local lake with a coffee and waffling about the birds and playing spot the fish! Silly but peaceful in this turbo charged world.
