Hi. I've just done my first assignment for Retail Eyes in a pub. I was allowed £5 for expenses without having to submit a receipt as proof of purchase. But I only claimed for the true cost of the drinks I had to buy. Could I have claimed for the full £5?

Hmmm:mad::mad: RE I am pee'd off with them again.

Firstly I have had 3 phone calls from 3 different people asking me to do a pharmacy job and making it sound as if they were doing ME a favour. Had several begging emails as well...even offering me an increase in fee. I told them in no uncertain terms why I wasn't doing them. I have enough crap in my house needing cleared out without adding piles of hay fever tablets.

I have had a week from hell. Tuesday got a flat battery dropping a colleague off in a really dodgy housing scheme in Glasgow. I phoned the AA and they said that made me a priority as it is the kind of place you would only be safe if you had rottweilers in the car!! 3 hours later they phoned my hubbie and said I wasn't there nor was my car.Now hubbie said ( this was on his mobie) how strange as he had driven round as he was worried about me. They were in a posh place 20 miles away. In Newton Mearns.

Then my stepbrother died aged 60 of a massive heart attack. Meantime I spent overnight in hospital with kidney stones.

So tonight I thought I would do the RE pub visit as it would be a welcome relief after my week. Done the report and it is a 2 people...1 gets a drink from list A and the other from list B but only 1 gets a meal. Then did the report>:mad::mad: 105 questions then a 250 word summary. Then it wont submit saying there are unanswered questions. One was level of trade which had a drop down box where I ticked Very busy 90 - 95%, And they wanted a comment!!! So I pput a comment and said READ MY ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION HOW MANY WAYS CAN I SAY BUSY. In the bit where it said what did you have as a 2nd meal I had answered "No second meal ordered as it wasn't in the briefing notes to order 2 meals. That came up as "Unanswered question" So I lost the plot and said "If you wished me to purchase 2 meals and 2 drinks then YOU need to pay for that as the fee of £5 barely paid the petrol. and the report and photo uploading took me 1 1/2 hours.

Is it me being a crabbit git? Can you picture their face when they see that answer in the morning.

And another thing it says on their briefing notes if you make a spelling error they wil deduct points. Yet in the briefing notes they spelled negatively wrong. So can I take points off them.I hope they phone with a query on it as I will tell them to stick their jobs where the monkey keeps his nuts.

Ach well at least my Andy Murray won tonight and put the smile back on my face. A Brit is the US Open final again. Magic.

And here's a tip for you lot who do the bookies. Put your house on my team Rangers winning the league and Celtic getting gubbed by Manchester Utd in the CL (hopefully)

And I hope all my English friends are OK with the floods. We escaped it in Scotland.

  • With the pub job, I don't know if RE are going to pay me either as I had a cappuccino instead of an ordinary coffee but I commented that I had been upsold it, as whe I asked for a coffee the barman said, "what kind, cappuccino, etc"....

Good god - I'm surprised you haven't had a nervous breakdown!! So sorry to hear about your step-brother and the fact that you've been in hospital. Hope your on the road to recovery.

I must admit I did a report for ISC the other day - 75 questions and a 250 word summary - thank god the fee was OK and I type very quickly otherwise I would not have been a happy bunny. Did a job on Friday which was a bit dicey due to weather - had trouble getting out of car as everywhere was flooded. The dedicated team we are lol

I've decided to do 2 jobs today (actually in the same store which was weird) as I'm fed up of sitting around all day just waiting for DD No 2 to appear.

Hope your week gets a little better - and make sure you get some well earned rest - I can see by the time of your post that you were an early bird this morning!!! x

Some of these companies need to wake up and smell the coffee, when it comes to paying expenses and fees.
Cost of fuel has shot up this last 2 years, but the fees are the same. Do they not understand that ?
I think that because so many new people will be signing up, then they think they can get away with paying peanuts.
They never contact me about pharmacy jobs, as I once told them never to do so, it isn't something that interests me. I cancelled a job with them the other day, due to being messed about recently, over them being pedantic. They send proofreading query emails, but the 4 different email addresses I replied to, ALL bounced back

Hey Hollypear, you really seem to be having a time of it. Wish you better with the health problems. I also found filling in the report annoying and time consuming. I had to go over it several times before it would say all questions answered. Also, the spelling dictionary did not have Pimms in its database and registered it as a mistake. I agree the fee is c*** and I wouldn't have done it if the pub wasn't local and had to fork out to travel.

  • Hi HP
Sorry you have had such a rough time. That must have been a terrible shock about your stepbrother. Sorry to hear it.
I did one of those RE pubs recently and I won't do another (they've been added to the list that includes TNS diy) as being jobs where you get your urine forcibly extracted in terms of fee and time involved. That particular one is ok in the job itself but that ridiculous questionnaire takes simply forever. It's really not worth the while and I think makes the overall quality of the report go down because it's hard to take such an unnecessarily monumental report seriously.
On the subject of being asked about your second (unfunded) meal - I think the report where you're not supposed to order wine but comment on other peoples' wine order is even more ridiculous...
Hope your week gets better, glad you survived hospital and the rough part of town...

I have just signed up with RM. In their email they have said they only assign you jobs by phone or email. Does that mean they only offer you jobs in your hometown, or is there a way of adding other towns/cities?
