  • Hello there.

    First post - eeek!

I've been lurking for a while, but decided to bite the bullet and say hello. I'm also a bit of a novice mystery shopper. Well, I've done three, so complete novice! That's why I've been lurking, because you all seem so nice and supportive.

Ok, no idea what to say. I'll slink off and hide now.

  • Hi FF and welcome to our little group. You'll find us all very friendly and helpful so if you need any advice just holler and someone is bound to answer. Not sure who your registered with but if you check out the front page there is a whole list of companies to register with and when and how they pay.

On a separate note I've just done my two MS jobs for the day so it's now back to the sofa with a cup of tea and daytime TV - seriously it's killing me. DD 1 is in nursery and no sign of DD2 arriving early. May even go on to GAP and see if there are any burger jobs going (OK maybe not lol!!!!!)

I have applied to some MS companies and so far been accepted by 4, turned down by 1, and waiting to hear from the rest.

How long did you all have to wait before you did your first job on average?
  • Hi everyone,
I'm after a bit of advice. I have been working as MS for a few years now. I was working for a company who took all of my tax and ni out of my pay before paying me but then I started working for one that I should have made myself self employed to pay tax on. I didn't do this at the time because I was only geting about £40 a month so didn't think I needed to but now I realise that I should have been.
In the last year I have earnt about £2000 so am way under the thresehold for paying any tax as its my only income.
The problem is that if I declare that I have been working for them for a year without declaring myself self employed, I am worried taht they are going to fine me loads of money.
If I tell the tax office that I have just started, will they find out that I haven't?
I am having so many sleepless nights over this and really want to sort it out but don't know what to do for the best.
    Can someone advise me, please.

  • I did a GAP phone job today which was really easy and the questionnaire only took 15 min to complete. However I was about to upload the receipt but then the door went, I then stupidly closed the page because my friend was here. To my horror I received a conformation email from GAP but I haven't sent the receipt!!!!!

I tried to resubmit but I found that I wasn't allowed, can I submit the receipt separate?, I emailed GAP but haven't had a reply yet.

    I cant believe I was so stupid:mad:

    Thanks Peridot

    Hi AAngel

If I were you I would inform the Tax office asap because its not worth the risk as there is a very good chance you will get found out.

Try not to worry, you will feel better once you have contacted them. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

The confirmation is only for the assignment. They will probably email you asking for the receipt which you can attach to their message and send as a reply. Hope that helps.

Check out the 1st page of this thread it will tell you all you need to know. Try joining one or two companies to start with. Gap are easy and often have jobs all over the place, also try Retail Eyes. Good luck
