Has anyone looked in the legality of recording conversations without consent? Isn't it an infringment of liberty or something?

    I haven't looked into it :o

I just download the recordings, type up the report as normal then delete them as soon as the report has gone. I'm not sure what rules apply to that as I'm only using it for my own notes, and then destroying it, usually the same evening as it was recorded.
Here I go again on my own....
  • I have joined a few mystery shopping sites- GAP, ABAi, Gfk etc. having probs with GAP because i had to cancel my first job because the fast food delivery place i accepted did not deliver to me. i have tried 3 times now to select the correct branch and keeps showing as cancelled/rejected. I've e-mailed them but have had nothing back- anybody got any ideas?

also could somebody please recommend who the best companies are to join?
    sorry, bit new to this!!

I googled it and found some bits out:

basically as I read it the employees should be told if you are recording them.

    http://www.mrs.org.uk/standards/clinic_mystery_shopping.htm

q.gif Can I record mystery shopping?

a.gifWhere mystery shopping collects personal information about individuals, the mystery shopping event can only be recorded where the client has a direct relationship with those individuals, such where they are their employer or their regulator.
The reason for this is that personal data can only be collected with the informed consent of the individuals concerned. In order to obtain this consent, the individual must be informed in advance of the data collection, who will have access to the information collected, and the purposes for which it would be used.
Employees can be notified of mystery shopping exercises in employee contracts, staff handbooks, bespoke communications, circulars or newsletters. Details need not be given on when exactly the review will take place, exact details of aspects to be covered, or the types of mystery shoppers to be used. Employees must be informed at this time if any form of recording will be used.
Names of staff members or identities through visual or sound recordings etc can be revealed as long as appropriate communication as to this effect has been given. Clearance from unions or staff organisation representatives should be sought in such cases.

The rule above only applys if you're collecting personal information. In most cases I would expect it to be fine to record it for use when writing your reports. Isn't your final report technically a written recording of the events?
  • Well I've just got back from my MS jobs. Waited for the rain to ease off. Did my petrol job and not only was it 7p a litre more expensive than my local garage when I went inside the two sales assistant were playing cards - for money may I add - not sure whose exactly!! I'm not even sure if he would have bothered to look up from his cards if I was dancing around naked in front of him (OK - not a happy picture I know lol). Off to complete questionnaire now!! Put another bet on today but if this one wins I think I win 50p. Got three more on Monday so will see if I can put some more accumulators on. And that's it then - no more gambling for me!!

Hi everyone! I've had my busiest few weeks so far, with mystery flights and loads of shops, as well as my Interior stuff to do, so only been able to have a quick lurk on here recently!! Haven't even nipped across to Asda for a while to see Hollypear - she keeps me going with her jokes etc!

Belated birthday wishes and new job congrats etc!! And many thanks to Timmne for part 5!

Does anyone know if you can actually use the single visit travel insurance you have to purchase at one of the stamp shops? I'm doing that tomorrow, and as I've just got a mystery flight to Paris next Sun/Mon that would cover that if I can actually use it. It does say on the brief to say that you are going to Paris for three days next Friday, but do you think it would matter if I said it was for next Sunday & Monday? I get reimbursed for it anyway, but it would save me having to sort it elsewhere! I'd get in touch with Gap, but as it's tomorrow I know they probably won't reply in time!

I'm also hoping to use the £25 off hotels that was on Martin's weekly email today - I registered first thing this morning & am still looking through the list, deciding where to stay! With a couple of well paid jobs while I'm at the airport, it's hardly going to cost anything..............!

That's before I hit the shops though!;)

then my life would be complete..... :rotfl:
