Ha ha !
I've now fixed it!
It was changing .bk to .bak in some file or other.
I now love vista!!
Maybe I'm too easily put off eh?
But seriously, I can't really be bothered with constantly trying to sort out stuff like this but then again I don't know if I will ever get around to installing XP. it's not fair for us non techie peeps. I'd rather be gardening.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
You shouldn't be logged in as an administrator anyway unless you need to make system changes. Why, for day to day use, do you need to be an administrator?0

I think it would help everyone if the OP does indeed post their specific problem before this turns into a XP versus Vista fight/debate and then someone joins in with "buy a Mac"
Edit - Oops - it is too late, the sniping has begun
I think you're absolutely correct.
The OP said, right at the start, "I can't handle having to find fixes all the time I just want a computer that runs easily with no fuss!"
So, quite clearly, she should buy a Mac, instead. :happyhear
Actually, those who do use Macs are finding this dispute between Microsoft lovers over which version of Windows is worse extremely amusing.
:rotfl:
(And not a little reassuring, too.)
But let us pull ourselves together and be serious for a moment.
I think the OP might find * THIS * link helpful in her deliberations.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Have you had any other issues with your XP > Vista change?0

Try a version of Linux, free, safe and interesting to learn, it will open your eyes to a different way of computing, if you are a lateral thinker then give it a go, dual boot it with XP and or Vista so you become more savvy with IT.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
