I would wholeheartedly agree with not relying on this type of site to buy a pup from.

Unless you are an expert in a breed, seeing the pedigree/lineage means nothing...they are only names on a bit of paper. And with all due respect, people who are experts in a breed rely on internet sites to buy a puppy.

If you know what breed you want, I would strongly advise that you contact the relevant breed club and ask to be put in touch with breeders that way. This is really the only way to guarantee that the pup has been ethically and responsibly bred for type, health and temperament.

Breeds clubs can generally easily be found via Google but if you have difficulty finding it this way (some minoruty breeds can be more difficult to track down) and want to post what breed it is, I will gladly try to find a contact for you.

Thanks every one for the advice, but it is not needed.
As per my original question , if anyone can answer and not give unwanted/needed advice
    thanks
I just love it when people put down things without even knowning what they are talking about in regards to what site.

Cheepskate, I wasn't aiming my advice as you as an individual, but at anyone else who may be looking for something similar.

Just because a website gives the names of the parents, doesn't mean these really are the parents of the dog, and even a KC registration is only a very limited gaurantee - a female dog may have been mated to a KC registered dog, but next doors 'mutt' may still be the sire of the pups.

Besides, there is so much more that goes towards producing a puppy that knowing it's lineage. Where are the puppies raised? What is the mother dogs temperament. Have the puppies met lots of people and other dogs at home? Have they met children, cats. Have the parents been health tested? Where the puppies actually bred at this place, or were they shipped in from Wales or Ireland?

Remember, this is an open forum, if you don't like my advise, you don't have to take it, but for other people it may be important if they too are looking for a puppy to join their family. Surely as a 'responsible dog owner' you must realise that so many dogs have problems which put them in rescues through people buying willy nillly from web sites. Most responsible breeders will have a waiting list for their pups anyway.........
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

There are many sites that let breeders advertise their puppies on in this country and the majority of these sites are monitored by the Kennel Club (the one I PM'd you is one of them by the way).
I think it's appauling how you have just jumped on the OP for asking the question Raksha you know nothing about how they are planning to go about finding their ideal puppy, it's not like they were going to buy the puppy off the website like you'd buy a jumper off e-bay!
No breeder in their right mind would let anyone take a puppy without vetting you properly (and you actually seeing the puppies in person) and they would fully expect you to do the same to them.

    Hi,

Champdogs / breedadog are quite a good website when looking for puppies, for a start breeders have to pay to advertise rather than using epups or freeads when all you have to do is register with them.
    http://www.champdogs.co.uk/

    http://breedadog.com/

Champdogs also have most breed clubs listed in the breed you are looking for so give the Secretary a ring of one of the clubs and they should know of members litters available.

Do not be fooled by some selling puppies as a Kennel Club Accredited breeder all that it means is that they have registered themselves with the Kennel Club as a breeder, it is really sold to the public as something it is not and some Puppy farms are registered as accredited breeders, do I need to say more!!!!

I myself have Gundogs and a Terrier so if the breed you are after falls into one these groups if you PM me maybe i can forward you onto a respectable breeder.

    Hope this helps.

    hi
I was looking through a site that was pups for sale.
The site had it in sections for the type of breed you wanted.
Once you got this it had pictures and names of dame/sire.
Then you could look into the breed line of the ind. dogs and also a bit about the breeder.
For the life of me i cant find it now anyone know where it is, think it was linked to some magazine .
    thanks

when were you looking at the website - can you not go into history in your computer and look down the sites you were looking at?

These sites are NOT good places to be looking for pups. No respectable reputable breeder will ever have that many litters that they need to advertise pups for sale - its more likely they have a waiting list. A reputable breeder will only be having a litter available if they are looking a pup to bring on in the show ring or trials field - not breeding for financial gain If you are looking to buy a pedigree pup then I would advise anyone (not just the OP) to go via the local secretary of the breed club of the breed they are interested in

    Hi
Thanks , but have tried that, been at it ages as my history is huge.

What i cannot understand is when someone comes on here , for a simple question we get berrated as stupid people who would just say " want that dog , he'rs the money.

Bit of history about myself so my thread stops getting this "puppy farming" theme.

Got my 1st dog at 18, 2nd at 19, very rep. breeder only small amount in the country. they lived for 15 years each.
Got my 3rd dog after waiting 1.5 years for breeder to breed, after originally looking for 4.5 months , both sire and g/mother hold breed record and she .recently passed away

Been 6 months in looking at what dog we want. now got the breed I know this is where my hard work comes in.
There are good mags/internet where dogs are advertised dog world being one.

It gets a bit waining when people come on here and give links to puppy farming, not everyone buys irresponsibly, and people looking for advice who may never have had a dog would be put off asking for advice due to people's responses .

Just because i am initially looking via web, largest growing medium, doesn't mean that i will just shove my money at anyone.
