eldest dd is indeed back - she has cleared her flat and is currently asleep on top of about 20 black bags in her old room - you can't even see the bed LOL. some random kitchen stuff of mine came back with her like the lid of my favouritest saucepan (why?) and my pyrex jug - I can't ask though or she'll know I've been snooping.

I have spoken to little dd as well for what it's worth - canada is "good", the falls are "good", the CN Tower is "good" as was dirty dancing. Exbil says that she is really well behaved and that she offered to do the laundry and told him she does all sorts of helpful things at home - must be the jet lag!

DGs and I went to meet a mate for coffee and I dropped him off at his Mum's on the way back. At the door he remembered that he had left his imaginery doggie friend Pippin in my wardrobe - oh dear. I have told him that Pippin is an extaordinarily talented doggie and will find his way back home if I let him out the front door. He seemed fairly satisfied with this.

Catowen - if you have any spare time in your london trip then check out www.londonisfree.com for loads of free things to do. Harrods sells pretty much everything you can think of and some that you won't have . I loooooooove the food hall especially the fish bit which has a statue of ..... er a mermaid or a figurehead or something like that - anyway it's really nice. My friend and I went to MandS today and they had wrapping paper and xmas cards - when i commented she said that she'd heard that Harrods have got loads of xmas stuff in so you could check that out. Have a lovely time anyway
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Evening all, We have had a brilliant day with DD1, DD2, DGD, her BF and D Niece, a good time was had by all. Our DNiece is my DB2's daughter (the one with Melanoma ) she does not know he has it. She was saying how much she has enjoyed having laughter as there is none at home. I can't tell her why as it's not my place to do so.

They have all gone back to Bath to see the Balloon Fest, don't know if it's going to be on due to weather. It was blue skies this am but is windy and spittin !

Lunch of Cauli cheese, roast pots, parsnips and peas went down well followed by the mega choc B/day cake and cream. Got 10 out of 10 from everyone. (Smug face on) :D

DH has just asked what's for dinner

I am expecting a comp litterate DF to pop round to sort out PC and laptop, since I used laptop in Hotel in P/mouth I can't receive emails or access my w/less conection. Hope he doesn't come to late as I was up at 4.30am and I'm begining to wane.

    IVYLEAF, enjoy your hols.

Special thoughts to CANDYGIRL, and your DDAD, SMOKEY and SMOKELETS PENPIN, ANNIE, MRS MIX, JACKIE O, JAYWARD, CATGIRL and your poorly cat,,,,,, now my mind has gone blank so sorry to those not mentioned.

Thanks for the good wishes, ladies!

We are going to the north coast of France (Normandy), so the weather may be better than here or it may not  - either way, I MUST remember to take my waterproof jacket this time, as twice I've forgotten it and ended up having to buy another one over there - I luuurve the one DH bought me last time though, it's hot pink :D I hadn't thought anywhere could beat North Wales for spectacular downpours, but Normandy runs it pretty close:D

Hope you like Normandy - remember that some stuff is still cheaper in France (even with the terrible exchange rates) and stock up!

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere on here about it. What I always stock up on is:
    - wine (if you drink red and happen to pass an E Leclerc, try their cheapo red in the plastic barrels - it's about £3 for 5 litres and doesn't actually taste that bad!)
    - olive oil (but only if you get through a lot and can get a can of it)
    - tinned stuff - very cheap and better variety than here, good for 'emergency' supplies
    - cookware - not as big a saving as it used to be but 'speciality' cookware tends to be cheaper as the french cook more! Someone told me that kenwood chefs are only 160 euro  I'm almost certain she just saw that mixer they do
    - honey - again, only if you use a lot

...hmmm does anyone know where that thread is?
