Kwik fit are terrible, I dont know anyone who has a good word to say about them. Their new ads are really annoying, the ones where the person says 'Id heard Kwik fit were good' complete fallacy.

It was a while back now, but once my sister went there for some brakes. Turned out the way that they had fitted them made the car dangerous to drive. All they would do is offer a 'voucher'......rather pointless as neither she, nor anyone she knows has gone there since.

These days one of the family knows more than a few things about cars, which comes in very handy.

  • I had my front tyres fitted inside out which isn't great considering they were assymetrical tyres. I complained and got fobbed off but when I got the local paper involved the Area Manager suddenly contacted me and replaced both tyres immediately. No refund or goodwill gesture though. I'd never go there again. Bunch of muppets. And their adverts are a load of cr*p too. THey inflate their prices depending on your age, gender, race and whether or not you look like you know about cars. Trading Standards are equally useless. They didn't want to know about my tyres but had traffic cops pulled me over I'd have had 6 points on the licence. Not to mention failing my MOT  I despair at the state of our country.

Absolutely disgraceful ......You must complain and stick to your guns about this. The conversation, although a private matter, which "matey "wanted to brag about was one thing , but then to find out that you had been overcharged is outrageous. Dont expect any earth shattering compensation , but argue for a refund and I would go for a face to face apology from "matey".(It wont be bad for you as you will be expecting it , he will be mortified that he has to apologise ). I have never felt comfortable in these sort of places and I used to work in a male dominated environment . Good luck and let us know X

(I'm a bloke) and am apalled by your experience (but not surprised) - and my sympathy goes out to you. My past experiences of Kwik fit echos your 'over charging' claims too - I won't use them any more for this reason .... your posting has put me off ever trying them again in the future.

In general - the motor trade needs to "clean it's act up" (and language) - my other half, and female colleagues won't go near a garrage on their own. In the past I've accompanied these friends (at their request) to give them support and ask the questions they feel they would just be "fobbed off with". Not a solution, but it's helped friends - I guess.

On the subject of swearing .... I was in Asda last month in the Queue for the till with my 2yr old daughter (on my own) - a couple (behind me in the queue) were having a conversation swearing almost every other word. My daughter is starting to talk and concerned for her - I asked the couple (politley) to "refrain from swearing infront of my little girl" - they looked stearnly at me and then stopped talking totally.... I'm not sure if 1) they were responding to my polite request 2) did'nt know how to talk to one another without swearing or 3) trying to figure out what "Refrain" meant. (I was almost half expecting to be lynched in the car park !!)

been there done that and when my daughter was young and i didnt like what i saw or heard in front of her i would say loudly yes darling thats right that is a bad word the man/woman has said or yes darling the man/woman shouldnt be doing that ... that way your not talking directly to them but making a point in front of others normally does the trick
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

    I've done that before.

My pet hate is queue jumpers. Had numerous conversations along the lines of:
    "Mam that lady pushed in"
"I know, but we have manners so we'll patiently wait our turn"
Cue a red face and filthy look from the queue jumper :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

It's not a public place, it's private property which they invite you to visit. But that does not excuse allowing customers to hear such conversations. A similar thing happened to us in the 'ASK' restaurant in Cambridge; members of staff eyeing up girls in the street through the window and discussing, loudly, what they would like to do to certain members of counter staff at the local branch of Lloyds TSB, and which ones they'd like to do it to.

We wrote to head office and got £15 in ASK vouchers. Was delighted by this as we like ASK. Just wasn't impressed by that one particular visit.
