I really can't fathom how staff could possibly think this kind of thing was ok - I used to work with customers in earshot and though I would have a laugh with my colleagues saying stuff like this would have been out of the question!0

Regional Manager of Kwik Fit has been in touch, on the phone for over 20 minutes apologising!
Turns out there is NO MANAGER there at the moment in the branch I visited and they are currently recruiting for one.
There was a senior member of staff on that day (senior, I mean the age of 22!) who was looking after the `guys`.
The regional manager had looked into our past business with them and seen that my family have actually used them 19 times in total !! and he said the next time we go, to call him and he will make sure we are treated like royalty and he will make sure we are given a hefty discount too.
He asked me whether or not i intended on using Kwik Fit again and I said `the way i`m feeling right now, No, But I may possibly venture back there in the future for my two rear tyres, accompanied by someone`.
He apologised and apologised and apologised somemore and said that he was discusted with the mechanics and will be having words, but will keep my name out of it.
So, the question is .. do i take advantage of the discount and get my 2 back tyres done, or never set foot in the place again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
Personally, if the discount is good take it and THEN never go back again.0

take the discount, make sure it is HUGE!!!!!!!!
might have been a one off incident as lack of management, so see how you get on with your return visit.0 -
find out how much the discount is before deciding whether to go.
my old car had a load of kwik fit reciepts in with the documents- my dad used to be a mechanic (he gets all of our parts from the motor factor down the road) and we had a good laugh at how much they charged for an exhaust and tyres (i think).
just out of curiosity- what car do you have, what were they quoting for and how much did they charge?
it wouldn't surprise me to hear they had ripped someone off- although they got a nail out of one of my tyres, and repaired it on a bank holiday for about £15 (not bad as 16'' pirelli p6000's- which is what i have- cost a fortunethings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
I trust BH even if he's from Manchester..
all your base are belong to us :eek:0 -
If kwik fit paid me i would not go back there, however if they are offering a huge discount then keep it for a future date, buy the product and get it fitted elsewhere. e.g. buy some tyres take the HUGE discount and take it to a proper place for fitting, this way they dont touch your car and risk the car of damage, because i don’t think these clowns could fit tyres correctly, let alone something technical like an MOT.0

I fully agree that the behaviour of the Kwik Fit staff was appalling. But...
In the interests of balance, I visted the Cheriton Folkestone Branch a couple of months ago as my warning light showed that disks needed changing. As the indicator had previously played up, I wasn't entirely sure and mentioned this to the fitter. Anyway, 15 minutes later, with my car up on the ramp and all tyres off, I was called over to be told that there was plenty of miles left on the disks.
They put the wheels back on and told me there was no charge (albeit I contributed to their Xmas fund voluntarily). So I would contend that they are not all "rip-off merchants", which has been suggested.0 -
I have just sent an email to the press office of the company asking for a comment on this thread. I was appalled at what i read

I think this is awful that you and your daughter had to experience this but I had to give you my story.
The staff in the Kwik Fit in Bangor NI are brilliant. I must point out that I do NOT know anyone that works there nor do I have any connection with the place other than having my tyres and exhaust fixed.
The 1st time I went in I thought I needed a new battery. The guys checked it, took it out, tested it and the informed me it was not the battery, advised exactly what the problem was and where I could get it fixed. No charge.
Next time I thought I needed a new exhaust. Went in, they looked at it, pottered around and told me I did not need an exhaust just a little bracket which they had fixed. They also noticed my brake light was out and changed the bulb. No charge.
Being a female who knows nothing about cars, they could have carried out any work at all and I would have believed it was required and paid up.
Now, it is the 1st place I go when I need something done. The manager is polite and courteous. He always gives a full quote, explaining everything in full detail before carrying out a job. His staff are friendly, polite and effecient.
I have been ripped off by garages many times in the past but my experience of Kwik Fit has been A1 and I have been so impressed that I have emailed their Customer Services twice in the past to praise their staff.0
